I've always enjoyed games along the lines of wow, lotro, daoc, ect.... and have been reading alot on VG about how it's so different than other mmos. Especially the building/crafting aspect of the game.
I tried the trial, but didn't get off the isle (only made it to like lvl4 so yeah, can't say I got anywhere)
Will I be able to play this game casually, and end up somewhere, or will I be stuck in a loooong leveling line? Currently Playing: lotro,BC2 Trying out Vanguard Looking forward to: GW2, BF3 Retired from: wow, eve, rift, FFXI |

You kinda have to look at Vanguard Differently than the other aformentioned games. Vanguard is not just about getting to the top.. It is a game that was designed from the ground up to be enjoyed along all stages.. I will say it really starts getting alot more interesting around level 10 as you start picking up alot more of you key class abilities, and the game world just opens up.. All this being said.. It is also designed to promote grouping over solo play, You can play casually, and you can even solo. Playing Casually with groups and friends is definately the best way to enjoy this game though. So if you can put your mindset to try not to be in a rush to the top you will enjoy VG alot more. ALOT more.. This game is so huge you can really get lost in the game as you go thru it. Instead of be pulled thru the game by the game holding your hand the entire way and just giving you everything in your race to the top. Vanguard is different. |

Originally posted by cybertrucker pretty much this. If one is the type of player who has to get to the top so they can run raids every day then they might get into trouble at some point. However, there is quite a lot to this game and one can take it on his/her own terms. @OP I play whenever I get a spare chance. I've been neglecting my main and exploring some of the other classes and having a blast doing so. But I certainly don't log in every day. |

Get into a guild and you'll have plenty of chances of enjoying yourself.

for me it was a question of class. with my warrior i got stuck at level 40 because with this class i couldnt heal myself effectively and without a group in my back i often ended with the face in the dirt. with a more soloable class like a paladin, druid or shaman you can log in and if you dont find a group or nobody of your guild is online you can better solo one or two quests. so my personal advice is: if you are a casual player and therefore soloing more think about a class you actually can solo from time to time. |

If you like an adventure, VG is a great game, You dont have to rush anywhere There is tons to do, and so much to see and the majority of player's are casual. This game is a true mmoRPG. If you don't mind paying the sub fee, VG will keep you busy for a very very long time. I'm a casual gamer myself, I have way too many things to enjoy from life and mmo's are just one of them. I played D&D when I was a kid and I played almost every rpg since ultima 1. I'm a huge fan of the genere, always have been and always will be. VG is the closest thing to my mind's ultimate rpg game. The best thing for me about playing VG casual is... The game never end's and there is always new things to see. The best game I have experianced for a virtual fantasy world. The playerbase is very friendly and mature, and there is a couple great casual guilds that are all about a fun, freindly, grouping enviroment. It's not a WoW type of game. Think of It an old school rpg. I'm casual and I adore Vanguard. Hope this helps |
