Vanguard spoonfeeds you too. It even has been made simpler over time. The island streamlines the starting experience (the older starting areas force you to explore and look around more). How equipment works has been changed too. Its lvling from questhub to the next questhub just like in other themepark MMO's. Diplomacy has never been expanded enough and crafting is the only thing you can do without having to do combat much.

Ive been subbed to Vanguard two times. At release when I left because the game was broken and almost unplayable because of performence. But I really liked the game concept so I came back later on. Performance was greatly improved so I could enjoy it for a while. But slowly I noticed that there was no development. Bugs took ages to fix, even newly introduced bugs. At that time I learned to not pay for potential anymore, so at some point I left again and just watched the updates to check for real improvement.

The game could make money for Sony if some attention and new content were added. It could make alot of money with a remake and relaunch. ie: Planetside 2.

We shall see if the good folks at Sony see the same thing as I do.

What the heck, right?  I mean... petitions saved Star Trek TOS season 3!!!!

What's that you say?  TOS season 3 contained some of the worst drek ever produced by any ST sub-franchise at any time?

Oh yeah, there's that too. :)

/sign just for the people who actually liked this game. Played it at Launch and it was terrible and can really understand why it might have 1000 players left maybe.

Playing again now with the reduced all access pass and remember all of the things I loved about the game when I played a couple of years ago. Just wish SOE would invest more in it - there's so much untapped potential.

I cannot fathom why sony would let this title fall to the wayside.  So much potential...I might resub soon.

Not signing, the last thing I want is Vanguard to be as it "was" as Sigil did a horible job with the game. SOE later came in fixed many of the bugs and added some starter content but that was about it, either way the game improved over what it was. Now SOE has stated (this year) that there are plans to add content so it's clear there is some interest going on there (even comments from the devs mentioning renew intrest after SWG was dropped) and we should know the details as to what will be added before the years over. However one thing I do not want is for the game to return back to the way it was, I would rather instead have SOE go forward with their new content and hopefully continue to do so. Still I'm not holding my breath...

I would like to see them open up both a FFA and Team based PvP server again....it was bad enough when they merged the PvP servers into one with no choice but for Team, much less when they just closed the doors on Sartok all together....

Vanguard is a great PvE game, but it was so much fun with PvP (even if PvP was an after thought) and even with the lack of ballance, sure I would want them to address that and the other things that plagued the PvPers....but I still miss the hell out of it.

to make vanguard as good as it was?

tell me when was this game good? it started off very bad ..they improved things in the game ..not a few weeks but years down the road..you can blame it on devs / soe but for whatever reason its never gonig to get better than it is now..and even now its still buggy with broken quest..but still better than then

petetioning does nothing but i guess it makes a good disscusion ..we had over 10k sig's before they closed down shadowbane..did UBIsoft care ..hell no..they went about their biss..like every million $ company does and they could care less

anyways why would soe pump money into an old stagnant mmo like vanguard when they have to spend that money on pumping out new titles like EQ next..you may think it doesnt cost much to add content / fix content or even properly run a active mmorpg but it does..you cant do it with a snap of the fingers

this game is dieing a slow death ..imo we should put our feet on its neck and hurry the process and hope for better things to come

im sure we can all agree it was a " meh its ok type of game" but it never had the guidance to be great or even be that great to stand on its own in the 1st place..just another average mmo slowly dieing and shoud be shut down or f2p sooner than later

The statement to make it as good as it was meant. playerbase wise. The thread is about making it go towards the future not going backwards. The game has potiental but it does have its issues.

Strange how people keep replying to these threads as if the game is dead and gone. For those who don't play Vanguard, the game is starting to have a revival. Quite a few players have recently came back and I am seeing alot of new people as well. There are some great guilds running contest at least once a month as well. The GM's are top notch.

Once you leave the trial island the game really opens up. The player base is one of the best  for being mature, friendly and helpful. If you are new to the game do yourself a favor and head to Mistmore in Thestra. Turn the music off and just listen to the sounds and look at the scenery. Other games just don't come close to making you feel like your in a real world. The tree's sway in the wind. Even the grass moves with the breeze!

And there are hidden out of the way places all over that you just find by exploring. Remember when games use to require you to explore?  It's an old school kinda game and that's what alot of people seem to be looking for now after trying the hot flavor of the month games that keep getting pumped out.

To be sure the game is still not perfect but even in it's present state it beats most of the newer games by a long shot. What would it hurt for you to try it? Pay for a month and get off the trial isle. If you don't like it cancel and all you have lost is $14.95 and some of your free time. On the other hand Vanguard could just be the game you have been looking for all along.

As you can tell from my post I still play it and have been since it launched because for me this is the closest I have come to reliving that EQ feeling from way back, when everything was new and you had to figure things out for yourself.

Funny thing is that since Sony has gotten ahold of it, I can't help but to wonder if they are studying it and taking notes of stuff to use from Vanguard as far as mechanics, etc to use for Everquest Next. At any rate, downloading the 14 day free trial as I write this. I was actually in the beta for Vanguard. Can't really recall why I never subbed to it other than it had seemed the dev's at the time appeared to turn a deaf ear towards most of the beta testers. /shrug

If it gives me that EQ feeling...I will more than likely sub. Most other MMO's out there atm are garbage. Although I AM still waiting to see hwo SWTOR turns out.

I'm kind of left numbed and awed that anyone would want to REVERT Vanguard.  I'm assuming the only thing that might explain that is that the OP (or whoever had the idea to REVERT Vanguard to "the way it was") was not around in the beginning of the life of Vanguard.

I would NEVER "sign" something to "make Vanguard like it once was."  Uhm....no.  It's better now than it's ever been and it may get better yet if SoE makes good on investing more time in it.

So I say....leave well enough alone and hope Vanguard CONTINUES to improve rather than wishing it back to more brokenness.

In the entire history of MMOs, has a petition ever done anything?  Seriously.  Has any petition ever directly influenced any MMO?

LOL...you are so right.  But I guess it just makes people FEEL like they have some power.  We all know that's just a delusion when it comes to game developers.  I think they pretty much are just going to do whatever they are going to do....in most cases.

Would be interesting research to find out if a petition indeed has ever affected a change.......
