Not sure if its F2P but the Isle of Dawn is out. You get some pretty nice gear from there (as compared to what you would get from the racial starting areas).

Isle of Dawn is a demo, not F2P. I think you can play it for 2 weeks and afterwards you either have to pay or lose your characters.

If you decide to stay you finish all the quests in IOD and then move to the rest of the world. If not your toon just stays on IOD if you ever decide to sub.

So in what respect is IoD not a demo, again ? Yes IoD is ALSO a part of the regular game and gives you great initial equipment for your character.
