I'm quite surprised. I expected them to close this down close to EverQuest Next's release date. |

heck ya.. its time for a relaunch.. SOE should go balls to the wall and really Relaunch Vanguard... They have squashed the bugs. Computers these days can run the game well. Vanguard was a great game..If a complete relaunch was done I would support it and go back to it. |

Im surprised too...
Why now? after all this time of neglect? why choose now to actually give VG any sort of attention? |

Originally posted by tank017 I think it's pretty obvious, they need to bolster their station pass. With SWG gone and nothing new coming until Planetside II and EQ next, they need to enliven the titles they have. |

Originally posted by tank017 I think it's very unlikely we'll see any concerted relaunch effort, although we may see a sort of "soft relaunch" whichg leverages community assets already in place. Any talk of Vanguard unseating EQ2, however, is just foolishness. The two games are very different and appeal to largely different audiences. Might Vanguard steal a few people? Sure, but probably those are probably few, and most of them will be StatiionPass customers and SOE won't notice becuase they get the same money either way. http://ardwulfslair.wordpress.com |

I wouldn't get too excited about the news. Even SWG is getting a couple of updates before they finally shut the game down. This is just the bait to keep people playing (and more importantly paying) until EQNext is released. |

regardless of motives, the major downside stated about vanguard is lack of dev support so this does show they do see a future (even if limited) for the game. Great news for Vanguard fans. rpg/mmorg history: Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (9200 hrs on main [mage])> oblivion > LOTR (480 Hunter) > Rift (130 hours mage) > Guild Wars (900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. Now playing Eve/Skyrim/GW1. Waiting for GW2/Archeage. |

Yep, was reading about this on Massivley. Doesn't look like the game is anywhere soon. So if that's the case why don't they invest in some advertising to get in some new players? Enjoyed my recent return on the free game time from Sony, but wasn't going to re-sub while I thought it was spiralling the plug hole. Either way I think it's good that the dedicated Vg player base finaly has something to smile about again. |

It's kind of intriguing to see SWG go down while Vanguard, which has supposedly been on death's doorstep for a while now, seems to be getting some fresh updates. Anyway, good news because god knows it deserves it and could benefit a lot from a F2P model if SOE could be arsed to put more effort into it. Nature without Technology is little more than animals running about. |

Originally posted by Jimmac Grants words were pretty exciting until he decided to add this last line. Low developer resources and a desire to product content that "would last" resulted in the massive pointless times sinks thrown into the 51-55 gameplay. Good news that Vanguard is going to get some attention though. Hopefully Grant doesn't drop the ball with timesinks again. |

A common reason some people (including myself) never bothered to sub to this game was that any revenues were being plowed into other games. Seriously, if I pay a sub, I expect ongoing development of my game. The fact that SOE is now starting to look at VG and give it some love, regardless of the reason, definitely presents an opportunity to win (or win back) some players. It's good for everyone. What is so funny about all this is silius (Grant) is an itemization dev for eq2, since when did he become the lead developer for Vanguard? I'm just saying I would not hold my breath until somebody like smedley, or amnerreys or ney actually can confirm this. Also the comments from ney about getting dev's who used to work on the project to work on it again. Currently the EQ2 teams works on vanguard in their downtime. Getting the devs who actually really worked on the project would mean the re-hire of some folks. I am just waiting for verification on all this before actually going hey we won. |

I understand they can just do something small to get more money, get old players back etc, but atm there are no games out. EQ has aged beyond my years, EQ2 is fun, but not as good, I'm not even going anywhere near the other producers games. VG is the only game I enjoy playing. If others don't like or want this game, that's fine, but I will follow this news closely and well they just finished FF, so this might take a few days for them to post on their official site. |

This is confusing... I was sure SOE even forgotten that they had Vabnguard (except the people collecting the monthly fees of course). Well, any news is good news with VG, the gods should know that it needs updates. I still have a feeling they will cancel it just before the launch of EQ Next but I might be too pessimistic. |
