Hi guys and girls

Im coming back to Vg for awhile as have been away playing other games and nothing compares to VG,

Would like to know how the population is going and are the many people returning to Vg ?

Did VG survive the sony mess, did most of the people come back or did Vg lose subs over it ?

One other question, just brought a alienware M14x will this run VG ok ?

Welcome to VG... You will have a great time.

Population is on the lower side but recently lot many people are returning to game. Join a guild and it should be fine. I will recommend 'Twighlyte Song' , it is the biggest in game at present with 40+ players online most of the time , mostly new and middle level players.

VG is in pretty good shape than it was 2 years back... there had been no major updates since long but there is good enough content for 2-3 years for a new player.

Recent post in VG forums today from Support people suggested that SOE may start putting in updates soon too...so that is a good sign.

Make friends and enjoy the best MMO experinece ,

from the VG forums

Vanguard has gotten a lot of attention internally this past week. I do believe that a road map for the game is being worked on. When that road map will be agreed upon and ready for posting, I do not know. When that information is ready to be shared it will be posted as soon as possible.

first official happy news i've heard in a while about vg i'm keeping my fingers crossed.  maybe it'll be time to head home myself soon.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Currently Playing EQ2, TERA
Liked but retired: EQ1,SWTOR, FFXI, WoW, POTBS, Aion, L2, Eve, Rift, atlantica, Darkfall, though i felt it needed tweaks
Looking forward to: World of Darkness, TERA, Gw2, Titan

Recommendation of a game you probably haven't tried: POTBS, Atlantica, L2

I've been trying to connect to the Vanguard forums all day but I'm timing out.

Can anyone tell me when the last patch was?

Magi Hold: Chapter 2 has arrived! There are new adventuring, crafting, and diplomacy quests now available for level 50+ players.

  • You can find quest boards leading to Magi Hold in New Targonor, Ahgram, and Tawar Galan.
  • See Naji Sevenblade in the Magi Hold barracks before the furnace room to start the first part of the main quest line, or her assistant Shou Kai Skyfall for side quests.

Content

  • Magi Hold NPCs have been updated with new attacks and abilities.
  • The Sisters event has been fixed and re-enabled.

General

  • The anniversary NPC that distributes gifts has now been removed.
  • New seasonal brews are available at many different barkeeps and food & drink vendors across Telon.
  • Psionisist rune spells now work properly.
  • NPCs now give better notification when they absorb your damage using runes.

Items

  • Some activated Magi Hold items including all darkwave ability items and the Imperial Arch Magi Ring have had their damage slightly increased, however they no longer benefit from the character's stats. The Imperial Arch Magi Tome still does benefit from the user's stats, but has lower base damage.

BOOYAKA!

They might try to move devs from SWG to Vanguard. I really hope so anyway. How many devs still actively code SWG and develop new art assets?

Hadn't even thought of that angle. From what I recall, they probably weren't a big team but VG wouldn't need one right away anyway. IIRC they almost finished up the AAs and the rest of the mini x-pac that was supposed to be coming when they quit working on it.

I am probably one of the biggest Vanguard fans ever. The game has/had more potential than any MMO to come out after it, and still to this day I cannot find the kind of kick than Vanguard gave me with dungeons, trash loot, and just generally the world size, 10+ starting areas, etc.

However, it will never be the same again. SOE made the biggest mistake when they allowed people to transfer from the PvP server to the PvE server, and then allowed people to transfer back fully geared up. This pissed a lot of people off and they then stopped people transferring from the PvE server to the PvP server, essentially putting the FFA PvP server to death.

Long live Vanguard.

Per the Smedley interview, the SWG team is being moved to "an undisclosed new project in Austin."  Which says to me that it's not EQNext.
