I recommend checking out the guild Twighlyte Song. They seem to have a good number of active players and I believe they are welcoming new players.

I was going to give Vanguard another shot, but the trial download page is fubar and has been for 2 weeks or so (at least).

That just enforces the feeling that SOE don't give a damn about this game which is a shame because it's actually quite good.

Just download from steam you get the first month free anyway.

also, you can get it from the station launcher  http://launcher.station.sony.com/  and the trial works fine from there (14 day trial) .  I just downloaded the game last night to give it a go, unfortunately I get BSOD every time i try to log into the game world.  I have found a number of solutions to try out, hopefully i can get it working this week sometime. 

I'm downloading the free trial right now, you just got to go to the general downloads page for SOE.
