Guild migrated to Twighlyte Song. Pretty much offers the same thing with higher number of members, and bigger foundation. Any new or returning players should check it out. Especially if you have days left on your SOE welcome back.

I may join,

This is my opinion.  Vanguard already has too many Guilds for the small player base.  In fact it is one of the downfalls of the game. Several noob guilds pop up on the radar often, and several others offer noob friendly.  Because of this, the lower player base is too spread out.  Guilds calming to help noobs never really amount to much and this holds to be true in all MMO's.  It's not that people are un friendly, but the key here is that EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN AGENDA.

I work off finding others using the Social panel, play with them for a few hours and add them to my friends list. This method gives me a wide variety of like minded people to play with. HOWEVER I often join a guild to ask my questions about game play and I could be willing to join yours for the fact that I'm good at getting groups together, infact I'm great at it.

SO let me see how others react to your new Guild, and maybe I'll join :)

I know an MMORPG.com guild has been tried and failed before, but as something to meet up with other returning players and level I think it would be great. I might hit someone from the guild up in the coming days.

On a related note, steam download is slooooooooow.

I think it's a great idea.  However, I also think it's unlikely to work logistically given the existing low and spread-out population unless you're prepared to do some pimping outside the game to bring folks in.  This isn't all that hard to do, but it takes the effort of, say, starting threads on a lot of general MMO sites (like this one) and keeping them lively, maybe starting a blog filled with lots of pretty screenshots, or posting regular YouTube videos.  Maybe work with raiding guilds as sort of a minor league to get people ready for the levl-cap game, and draw on those folks as a resource to get more exposure.  There's probably more ideas, but that's off the top of my head.

Thing is, the addition of a single solid guild of decent size would probably noticably impact the game population for the better.  really, the only thing VG has going aainst it nowadays is simple momentum.  A single motivated person can make a difference to a game in Vanguard's circumstances, meaning a slightly older game that still looks and plays great even compared to the most recent releases.

I started playing vanguard again a week or so before the servers went down. And I joined a guild called Twighlyte Song, not sure how old or new it is, but it has quite a few people online when I play(eu). Usually around 12-22, and we have a lot of new lowbie characters, and mid\high lvl. I hate to advertise and steal your spotlight, but it seems to have gotten quite a few new members lately, and maybe we should stick together there? Just a though, sorry if this is out of line, I just want us all to have the best possible experience.

Me and another guy actually ran that guild, it was called "After Hours". There are several reasons as to why it failed but it had nothing to do with the people here at MMORPG; quite frankly the guild was an amazing success and if people continued to play, then it would have been even better. Sadly, that was about the time when we all found out that there was never going to be any help from SOE no matter how much we begged and no matter how many people returned. They're just not interested in the game, at all.

I wish, personally, that they would turn the game into a F2P as much as that goes against my grain of MMO-playing (I hate f2p with a passion) but I think it's the only way that Vanguard could ever have a chance at "thriving". Sadly, SOE will probably never do that, because they just don't want to put any effort into it.

As far as the topic here goes, I wish you luck with your guild. I adore the hell out of Vanguard and every time I play I get this happy feeling because it's such a fun game. However, the happieness is quickly diminished when I realize that the game will simply never become what I want it to. :(

Yeah, agreed all around.  I think a FTP Vanguard might get some decent attention and numbers.  Nothing earth-shaking, but a lot more than it gets now.  Alas that SOE seems to have it on irrevocable life support.

Yes, last year at exactly this time we started the After Hours guild.  It was a huge success.  The problems came when SOE basically said there will never be anything for this game again.   Population in the guild plummeted in a few days.  I have been tooling about with VG with the free time and its just sickening that it sits there untouched.  I only hope either 38 studios or EQ Next offer some glimmer of hope.

Yeah, it was amazing how fast those numbers just dropped. Never seen anything quite like it either.

You know the thing is, even the people who are playing are willing to drop bucks to SOE to advertise and work on it, but SOE even denied that from us, they want NOTHING to do with the game and it is such a shame. The game has some serious potential but thats all it will ever be, potential. :|

From what I hear they have finally paid to trademark EverQuest 3, so... soon I'm sure they'll be buying up the webspace and announcing the next one, "officially". Hopefully they've learned a lot from their years with EQ, EQ2 and VG.

Vanguard was a big threat to Sony and they knew it thats why they bought it. Sadley unless it is sold to someone else they will let it die. Ive heard that they know what they have and you are correct they will use some in the next EQ3.

I checked out my account and it stated I was on a 45 day pass, does anyone know when that starts?  Did it start from a specific date or is from the first time you log in?  I looked about at the site for a few minutes and did not see anything.  When I checked my account further there was no end date.

Any information would be greatley appreciated.

From when you log in I believe.  If you take VG for what it is and don't care about future growth, its a great game.  The game has more content than most games that have been out for sometime.  I still would love to find out some day what SOE really paid for Vanguard.

The 45 days starts when you first log in.  The deadline on this is 8/31 - you need to log in before then to claim the time.
