As stated I'm taking a few months off from playing MMO's.

It's sad times for Vanguard players with the hacks and all........BUT.....I hope SOE just sells off there entire mmo product line to someone that would care about there players.

Vanguard - Re-launch of Vanguard under a new name would be great.  As far as bugs and updates would not really be necessary as many here would make you believe.

-  Bugs are not that bad. In my time I've found that I can play it on my better Desktop, and my cheap gaming laptop. My friend and his girlfriend the same. I found very few broken quest.  I only got stuck two times, and getting on elevators could be a problem where you have to restart the game.....That's it, thats my full bug report !

-Updates, well Vanguard is a full LARGE game as it stands now.  It has content and re-play value that could keep you for at least two years.  Only the hard core need updates, and don't let anyone tell you different.

EQ2 - Is a good game, however I have many gripes with it :

-  They never fixed the coding ( I think the bugs, zoning and ability to play on most computers are worst than Vanguard ).

-  They release expansions as it's a new game. Most should be just updates.

-  They never look back on there old content, and never fix most anything.

-  Free to play is just a trick ( this is just my opinion )

-  Merge servers. They are afraid to piss off there very small player base.

-  " Yes "  they have a small player base.  In my time spent in EQ2. I often did a count during prime times for all levels and there were not many active players. I did this for all classes, levels, and three of the popular servers. So they are fudging there numbers. I went Wayyyyy out of my way to do a head count, You would have to trust me on that one.

To  make a long story short SOE sucks, and should not own these games !

VG is one of the few games SOE has that I think would benefit from being sold to another developer. At least then even if it only got one dev  working on the game it would have twice as many as it has now.

They will never sell VG or give it love, as it is "in direct competition" with EQ2.

War is not the ultima ratio, but the ultima irratio - Willy Brandt

Its a real mystery to me why SOE bought Vanguard in the first place.

If they just would have waited until Sigil went down, and then shut down Vanguard, it would have made sense.

But what they did was actually pay for a dev team for quite a while. Apparently never enough to actually fix the game, though, and they never attempted to do a relaunch, either.

I dont know how much the game is a direct concurrence to EQ2, really. How many players are there who would play EQ2 if they dont play Vanguard ? I for one never contemplated playing EQ2. It lacks all, or most of the features that make Vanguard great, like the great classes and the huge gameworld.
