Wich game give you this HUUUUUUGE freedom? Name one just one, i know u can't because the is none! In the images u can see i met a really great ship crafter wich took me in a spin with some of her boats, wich is absolutely great, you get such a nice and relaxing feeling and you can sail wherever you want in the game!! The boats in the images belong to her but the red one is mine wich i bought from the auction house! AND yes that HUGE you can sail it!! PS here is a small video with sailing http://www.xfire.com/video/f1626/ |

for all the bugs, glitches and the negative outlook its received from many gamers its still a game id still play from time to time, its huge world is a key factor. the server my characters are on , Seradon, everytime ive ever logged on has had a solid and active population and friendly community. it has devoted fans that enjoy playing the game. its huge seemless world is amazing. the ships, and ability to sail anywhere is also fun. i do wish SOE would give vanguard more attention. game has such untapped potential. |

I didn't realize one could buy a boat from the auction house. Good to know. My ultimate goal is to actually get a wyvern though I understand there is some sort of Raid involved. In any case, I subscribe to Vanguard precisely because of the world. I really don't know any other game that has a world of such enormity. |

I found out what emazing game Vanguard is during one of the last missions from Isle of the Down, with my friend, Ceo (Hi, I'm Ramayan :) ) - Asencion I think the name was - the one with the Temple. I mean that quest blowed my mind about this game. My thoughts ware : "Why I didn't knew about this game sooner ! It's realy amasing". What i can say about the comunity is that it is very helpfull.

Case in point to the freedom. My friend was fishing from his new Galleon in some deep waters far from Kojan. In fact, I think he found depths of 800+ which is rumored to contain different fish for fisherman at higher levels. So anyway, he's way the heck out there when I give him a tell asking if I could join him. He offered to pick me up, and I said I'd fly out to him on my Griffon. Even on my Griffon it took 7-8 minutes to get to him and once there, we ended up having a Griffon vs. Galleon race to see which had better speed. Galleon wins in deep waters and Griffon wins in more shallow waters :) Nice time shot of that Galleon. |

With so few servers, I wonder how hard it is to buy a home in this game. |

depends, i know last time i peaked around my server, (seradon) its population was still pretty solid and noticably active over the channels, few housing areas i toured for the random fun of it as i was no where near rdy to buidl my own home yet still had lots of housing up, few open spots, of course some of the nicest little areas were taken. im not quite clear how long a house can sit in build stage(not finished) with an inactive character though. i mean. eventually they "could" theortically run out of run on the housing zones. ive always wondered what will happen then , when the player demand for housing surpasses what is readily available lol, only time will tell |

Actually no I didn't think you worked for them, if you did then I'm sure the post would've been doubly fluffed. You didn't disappoint me, you just further proved my point of the fail viral marketing VG has put its players to. You wouldn't believe how many posts occur on the web alone of the "ooo look how pretty this is in VG". What happened to full thought out reviews? The game looks great, we all know that. And which game gives you huuuge freedom but fails in all other aspects? Yeah I can only name one. |

Well, I don't want to ruin your experience with this game as I really think you should enjoy it and have fun. But I do belive your enthusiasm with Vanguard is just a result of the initial positive experience Vanguard can offer. Between level 30 and 40 you will realize Vanguard seems to be huge but it in reality it is a small game. At 30+ you will notice nothing in Vanguard will really surprise you anymore, you will see reused creatures, you will know almost all the game world (even if you are not an explorer). You will understand why Vanguard has a nice concept but a limited and very unpolished execution... but even so, you can also fall in love with this game and forget the issues... In Everquest 2 when you reach level 60 the content expand and you will realize you are indeed in a mmorg where you can experience new and exciting content for a long time , will you have tons of real Dungeons and Raids, at level 70-80 will you have even more. In Vanguard the opposite happens, what you call freedom, what people call tons of content is much, much less than what we have in Everquest 2 and even in new games like AION where the PvP will help to expand the end game. At level 10-29 you will probably have the impression Vanguard is huge but after 35+ you will see the game is limited in content, creatures and unique areas and forget about diplomacy. Anyway it is just my opinion, good luck

Uh, Every game reuses textures/mobs/etc all the time? Are you saying every mob is different in EQ2? I was under the impression that you also had to pay for a TON of xpacs for EQ2 to see all this "content"? Or was I reading that incorrectly...? Just wondering, as I play neither game. |

Originally posted by Swanea I am not talking about textures, I am talking about the art style of locations. About creatures, yes, all games reuse creatures, but you usually will be surprised with impressive monsters and animals as you level. From Lineage 2 to Everquest 2, from Guild Wars to Aion you will have much more of this kind of surprise than in Vanguard, the same happens with ingame locations. Vanguard doesn't has an animator, they had issues even to bring new textures for the new models (just check the abs), this is probably one of the reasons why Vanguard is so limited in this area. No, I paid for one or two, the rest came for free, the amount of free content Everquest 2 (not only EQ2, but Lineage 2, Lotro and AION) is huge comparing to Vanguard updates. A paid expansion would be pretty nice for Vanguard, so I don't understand what you are suggesting... Anyway, freedom will only matters if in the mid and end game you will really have options and not be limited to just a couple of Dungeons and grindy locations. Just my opinion and if you don't play/know Vanguard and Everquest 2, I reall don't understand your point. ....

What Umbral said is correct. The initial impression of VG will give is that of "oooos and ahhhhs" from everything surrounding you. But of course, what game doesn't? The opposite effect does happen with VG. Its a game that recycles itself for usage. They bit off more than they can chew and its the players who have to put up with it. VG's "free" pota expansion is like a bug fix patch to any other mmo. |
|

@Umbral and the others you may be right, maybe the game will be boring and all you said but until now no game made me this excited about playing it and that is why i posted about it. I think i will have plenty of things to do since i am not a raid/instance whore :) more like the RP type of player. EQ2 doesn't appeal to me because i played it for a little and the char's body is disproportionately. The legs are too small compared to the rest of the body. And also i heard the game is instanced like a mofo. I don't like my game to load when i go from one zone to another it breaks the gameplay for me and the immersion. |

Wow really!?! A game that has been out for about 5 years longer than Vanguard has more content? Currently Playing: Toying around with AoC and bored with Darkfall Thinking of Playing: Fallen Earth or Darkfall after this months update. Have Played: EQ1, EQ2, WoW, WAR, Vanguard, EvE, Requiem, PW, Lotro, Lineage2, AoC, SWG... |

There are still some people that do not care about how many raids there are at the end game, but rather enjoy the scenery and the borderless world. These group of gamers will never play EQ 2 due to its claustrophobic zones all surrounded by hills with a few linear exits to other zones. REALITY CHECK |
