Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself/mmorpg history. My first (and still my best) experience of MMO's came in SWG on the Bria server. I had never considered playing an MMO before SWG was released and it was basically due to the fact that it was 'Star Wars' that I was attracted to play it. I was a huge fan of the original trilogy as a kid and had all the toys etc. My time in SWG was great (up until the CU and NGE), I loved the community aspect of the game and the freedom of the skill based system and open-ended play. I also enjoyed having all those planets to explore and the lack of instancing. I left SWG when the CU was released and tried some other MMO's (MxO, EvE, AO, EQ), but I just could not get the same feeling that I had in SWG so I returned to the game and learned to live with the changes that the CU had brought. Then November 15 2005 came around, the dreaded NGE. This time around I could not and would not adapt to what was basically a totally different game, so I quit again. Since that time, I have been searching for a new MMO without much success, just take a look at my sig - a good few games given a fair try there.
However, Vanguard has come to save the day! I am really enjoying this game and have finally found somewhere to spend my gaming time. I started playing a few weeks ago under pre-order and have been playing around with the different classes on different servers to get a feel for the game. I have experimented to varying levels with 12 different classes, but currently I am playing a High Elf Cleric on the Frengrot (EU PvP) server. I am looking for a mature guild that is fairly laid-back, I am not a fan of hardcore raiding. I like to play for the community aspect of the game and enjoy helping my fellow guildmates out whenever I can. I enjoy occassioal PvP as well as PvE and support mild to medium RP, the heavy stuff is a little out of my league. The community and guild that I am playing with is more important to me than losing a couple of days questing so I am willing to re-roll a character on any server (except Varking - had really bad performance issues on that one for some reason). I am based in the UK but I work erratic hours so I am usually on quite late at night through the week and can be on at any time over the weekends. This means that US timezone based guilds are no problem for me either. So, sorry for the long winded post, but I thought that it was better to explain what I'm about and where I'm coming from than just doing a generic 'Looking for Guild' post. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to see you in Telon!

Yerr..... *sobs* Every game today might have nice graphics, nice gameplay ... BUT.... SWG had a HEART!!!!!!!
I tried VG too, but I don't like it. Too much EQ feeling. Maby I will like it when it's completed (when there are not like majorities of bugs) and have skill trees. I also want more meaning to the PvP. I've tried most games there is today and almost any one on the entire list ... but nothing will probably ever replace the great gameplay SWG had. The community... the first game I've seen that depended on you to interact with the community in every way.

Hey neilh, I am playing around with the idea of starting an SWG refugee guild on the Florendyl server. It will be light-RP, and the basis will be that it's members are reincarnated souls from the SW universe. Pissing and moaning about SWG will be considered the collective madness or visions of the guild members, so it won't really be out-of-character. To the rest of the world, the guild will be portrayed as a kind of religious cult with strange beliefs. The guild members will often be solitary wanderers across the face of Telon, because they are troubled by their visions and somehow seeking for the vivid universe they lost. Other than that, there is no guild objective, and certainly no guild management to speak of, unless some demagogue tries to turn it to politics in true RP fashion. My Florendyl avatars are Ambrus and Tasten, if you want to get in touch in-game.

We are looking for SWG refugees like yourself. The majority of us were on the Lowca server in SWG and Vanguard is our new home. You can check out our website at www.geckoguild.com . We are located on the Varking server which is the team based pvp server and we are a Order guild. Hit me up on our website or at casperjf@yahoo.com if you have any questions. I realize you had some issues with the Varking server , but it might be worth another shot because I think we may be what you're looking for in a guild. Thanks Oleris |

Hi there and thanks for the responses. Poldano, funnily enough Florendyl is where I have been spending most of my game time recently, I have a Vulmane Shaman character on that server. I really like the community on Florendyl, very helpful and polite. As regards to your idea about the SWG exiles guild, I think that it could be a great idea, the only problem that I envision is that you are West Coast US PST and I am in the GMT timezone. Although I am usually on pretty late at night like I said in my earlier post, I think that it would probably be difficult for us to be online at the same time regularly. However, if we managed to get a group of folks together from various timezones it would still work. I will try to get on either really late or really early so we can have a chat ingame. Oleris, like I said in my original post I had MAJOR problems with Varking when I was playing on it before for some reason?!? In fact, my highest level character was on Varking - a level 16 Thestran Druid, I deleted that toon at the begining of last week along with a lower-level Bard alt because of the problems that I was having with latency, stability and general performance on that server. However, there has just been a patch today supposedly addressing some of these problems, so I might make another toon there and see if things have improved at all. Once again thanks for the responses and I'll be in touch in the next couple of days. |

I can easily tolerate Shouts for assistance, but when the person requesting assistance continues to Shout his end of a tell/reply conversation, I can lose patience. I believe I successfully called one such individual a noob in-character, in-context, and appropriately.

Thanks very much for the posts regarding your plans for a guild and guilds guys, but I have found a great guild of ex-swg'ers on Gelenia EU Server. I wish you well in your adventures in Vanguard, take care. :) |
