i have high hopes on the official words i read and dream about Vanguard getting its 2nd chance.

I am not a fan of F2P but if it helps with  new development  of this game i am fine with it. Its by far still the best game on the market with a bad bad owner that favors another game over it.,

Once they start patching, adding new content, fixing old bugs i will be one of the 1st to come back.

I never deleted Vanguard of my Hardisk because i known the day maybe comes when someone at Sony wakes up and understands what pearl Vanguard is.

peace

I will be coming back as well, I hope the F2P is sooner than later. Can't wait until they come out with the date.

Yes, I think Vanguard is on the top three list of best mmo's, but with a bad owner.

I REALLY FEEL THAT I KNOW THE REASON WHY THEY FAVOR EQ2 OVER VANGUARD :

SOE uses a different exclusive approach to marketing.  They create expansions and call each one a new game, and market it as such. They try to hype each expansion, but fail because the public is on to them.  But they try never the less.

Vanguard is already a full large game, filled with years worth of features, content, and game world......They could never justify using their marketing technique by creating expansions.  They were banking on a population explosion for some strange reason when they purchased the game to later put their marketing practice into effect by pumping out expansions like crazy as SOE loves to do.............So basically they were stuck, and could not justify their marketing.....SOE WILL NOT MARKET UNLESS IT'S AN EXPANSION, it goes against their code.  Infact, SOE will not even fix bugs and coding for free in any of their mmo's. Yes, of coarse they did the most basic repair of Vanguard, along with adding the Trial Island for public relations, but I'm sure it killed them to do so.......No profit in looking back !

SOE does not give a rats butt about retention of players in ANY of their mmo's... just box sales.

To make a long story short SOE sucks.

They have begun giving the game alot more attention in preperation for F2P. Maintenance is taking place approximately weekly, and Silius has started a bugs and hitches roundup thread on the forums. They should probably be aware of most of these over the years, but regardless it is a step in the right direction.

I'll play with you . ......

NEWS FLASH! A bank was robbed the other day and a man opened fire on the customers being held hostage. One customer zig-zag sprinted until he found cover. When questioned later he explained that he was a hardcore Darkfall Online player and knew just what to do.

I am crazy late to this party but I just found out that this possible reinvigoration was happening.  The bugs, hitching were the sole reason I left however many years ago that was.  Damn thats good news.

I have a suggestion for all the people coming back, particularly the people who are new to the game.  Find a group of people and decide on a pre-made group of alts that would make up a workable group.  Next you all solo them up to like level 8 (or whatever level it was were soloing slows down and you've developed a foundation with your class).  Then you all decide on a night during the week where you will play together and dungeon crawl. FUNNEST TIME EVER :)  I'm biased because this is what I did back in the day but seriously... It's so fun in a group oriented game like this with so much territory to explore. Plus everyone is guaranteed to level around the same time which is always fun...

One other thing and I'll spare you all the rest of my nerdgasm...  As I said, it's been a long time so I don't know if the same quests are still available but I believe the goblins and orcs share their initial quest arc? If not it must have been the goblin one; a sort of tribal coming of age story.  It was SO cool for a low level quests arc...  or quest arc in general actually. I don't wanna say "best" because we all know how that goes but it was easily my favorite.  I'd been playing MMOs for a while at the time and that one made me pause at the end and say... "Man.. that was damn cool."

SoW and Invis please! :)

I have been playing about a month now. These are a couple true statements about the game so far:

*I joined a guild and group pretty much every playtime either between guild members or other characters. You are not restricted to solo play, butbeing social and making friends is a must. Easy click and join grouping is not really a reality for VG. It requires social skills and a bit of relationship building. The friends panel is YOUR friend. When you meet people you et aong with, add them to it.

* There re still some bugs and hitches, but I do not find them gamebreaking (as they were at beta and release)

* SOE has impressed me with their customer service again. I accidentally created the character I am playing now on an account that hadnt had a subscription to VG before. I realized the account that I had from beta/release was a different one. I inquired about moving the character to the other account so I could get the veteran rewards (bags/horseshoes/exp potions/titles etc). They did it quickly and for free. Even in a 14 year old game like EQ they charge 25.00 for a character transfer. The VG GMs have helped me out on this, and other issues that have arisen in game quickly, professinally and in a friendly manner.

* The information online in regards to resources are not always 100% accurate. Some things are just not out there. It requires players to discuss in game or in forums aspects of the game, mechanics, etc. This i really like. You really have to either figure things out or work with other people to figure them out in this game quite a bit.

Couple tips:

/setfog 99999 -will allow you to see farther and offer a prettier game

/flush -will flush the cache and help with short term performance

Bump the contrast up somewhere from 55-65. This will make a prettier game as well. Some things may be a little darker because of it. At night use the torch in your general tab. It does not take up an inventory slot and helps with lighting issues. Particularly deep in dgeons.
