I've paroused the boards here, and I see a lot of folks singing the praises of Vanguard.  I was once one of them.  This was my ideal game.  Player housing, Boats, Towns all over the place. PVP, everything, Vanguard had everything.

I bought the game when it launched in '07, and alas... No one else played it.

I found myself strolling through a gigantic- empty world.  It was so hard to finally say good-bye and move on, but I wasn't about to pay a monthly sub to play alone, with no end game content in sight.  So there I was, poor and in college... finding something better to spend my 50 cents a day on.

Here I am, 5 years later- asking new questions.

Do people still play?

Was I perhaps just on a bad server?

Did they ever release and expansion?

Can this experience be saved?!

I know FTP is coming, with that comes its own challenges.  But do people play this game at all?  I assume less than I saw at launch, so the low levels must be dull.  But I have seen the light, I've read that the devs might actually give this game another go!

Can someone PLEASE just convince me to give it another try?  Just give me a reason!  I am already growing tired of SWTOR, and every other flavor of the month MMO.  Vanguard was a challenge, a blend of EQ1 and EQ2.  I want that dream to live.

Cheers

You've said everything yourself...as well as like you mentioned, it's going F2P. What's to convince? Try it when it becomes F2P and see if it's something you'd enjoy.

I just wish it was F2P now. I'm hopping on Aion in the meantime this coming up Wednesday (it's going truly F2P and a new server - no transfers allowed).

My only fear for Vanguard is its timing. Diablo 3 will be out, and god forbid GW2 launches in the summer - that might kill off any chance Vanguard has. But if Vanguard cant get a few months of uptime with no GW2 interference, it has a chance.

It probly wont go F2P until the end of summer, thats my guess. There is a lot of people on know in the low levels.

I have absolutely no evidence for it, but late summer is my guess as well. You can see them ramping up with bug fixes and the like.

Also, while the population is low, I simply never have trouble getting groups together when I want to. You have to be proactive about it - the groups won't necessarily find you - but there are people on and looking to group. As a side effect of Vanguard's leveling rate, there are always people on at every part of the level range, too - it's not all people at the cap.

Thought it was f2p, went there, told me I needed a sub. So, maybe it's going to go f2p soon. When I was playing it afew months ago the population was going up so instead of 150 people there were 200 people give or take.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
