Just as title suggests, would like to come back to the king of MMO's (well, at least for me :) ). A small semi-casual guild would be nice but up for anything really.

What's the state of the game nowadays?

I remember the game being heavy as hell back in the day. I'm wondering if a two-year-old laptop can run it.

Are there still people playing it?

I started last week, 460 gtx level pc and everything running at max and smooth, There are enough settings in there that you can probably pin it back if it is lagging.

rpg/mmorg history: Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (9200 hrs on main [mage])> oblivion > LOTR (480 Hunter) > Rift (130 hours mage) > Guild Wars (900hrs elementalist) Vanguard.

Now playing Eve/Skyrim/GW1.

Waiting for GW2/Archeage.

May be worth joining an existing guild to bolster their numbers and to join a ready made community.

That's the go-to answer because it requires the least asking others to hand their successes to you. What the OP wants to do is make a new guild with new people and learn the game together as a team... not have it handed to him.

That's the go-to answer because it requires the least asking others to hand their successes to you.  Thats some sentence.  i was actually referring to  the community aspects, joining a guild should not be about 'getting success'.  Anyway, the suggestion was just that, no biggie.
