It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a viking to raze a village! |
I already have. Here's why: VG is an okay game that's much better than it was at release. However, I'm frustrated with the VG Devs and the size of their team. They seem to break more than they fix with each patch -- every patch I've seen has required multiple follow up patches to fix the original update. When I read the dev responses on the forums, I get the impression that they just do not have the manpower or resources to do anything major with the game. Their lead dev has an attitude and is prone to getting into arguements with the players on the official forums. Overall, I just didn't see a real strong future in VG, despite the fact that it's a fairly fun game to play. AoC has been a blast so far. I like the graphics more than VG, I like the character customization a LOT more than VG -- the avatars in AoC actually look pretty good vs. the plastic models in VG. The spell effects in AoC blows VG out of the water as do the animations. For example, here we are well over a year after release, and I still swim 3 foot above the water in VG. Not good. The cutscenes and voice overs in AoC really help with immersion. In VG, the npcs just stand there staring blankly off into space. In my opinion, AoC is simply a better game and will provide much more value for my money. VG is fun, but still needs a ton of work before I'd even call it finished. |

I don't play VG, but my buddy and I are going to check it out soon. Anyway, I'll wait a few months before trying AOC. By then I'll probably have a new rig that can run the game well and the devs will have had time to work out many of the kinks. AOC sounds like a game that will need some additional work, much like vanguard. |

Wrym wait for a free trial of Vanguard before you jump in. Last time I played it really wasn't up to scratch, which I just found disheartening - it has such great ideas and potential. When (if) SoE feel that they have got it "about right" they will probably do a free trial to grow their customer base, so for me that would be a good point to go back or have a first look. |

No . Can play AOC(Early access) with my computer but i won't switch for many reasons: - violent and gore doesn't mean mature content. ! - 3 races only - XBox oriented the only thing interesting is the combo system - small areas with a lot of invisible walls everywhere, - mass PVP; only 48X2 (lol) that's not i can call a huge and massive PVP... Even in lotro you can play with more 48 players by side. (no limits) - CTF = wow like - a lots of bugs noticed (in lvl 30/40+ areas !) - most of EA players are 30 some of them reached lvl 50/60 - We know nothing about high lvl PVP (nothing !) Even if i'm a pvp player, won't play this game until someone proves this is really an interesting and rich game for mature players. I'm 40 years old, i don't want to pay a sub only to kill an burn players. This is not PVP, it's only an action-gore Xbox game, fun when you play 1 Hour (had fun last day of open beta) but boring when you play 1/2 months. Quests are boring, nothing to say about AOC except for combo system and some FFA fighting. I'll never buy a game only for combo system. It's not enough for me. And most of players are going to buy a G15 or something like that and create macros. No more no less. if you need action, play GT4 if you want, not AOC.Or wait for AOC's Xbox version (without any subs !) Had fun 2/3 hours but I can't pay a sub for this. I'm sorry it's not enough. So I canceled my order. (1Hour ago) II'll stay on VG, EQ, DAOC and SWG. |

Well, the proof will be in the pudding as they say. I'll be watching my guild to see who leaves to play AoC or who elects to play both. We've grown quite large recently and probably have 50 unique and active members. So far 1 has said they were going to try it (a PVPer at heart). Several were in beta and decided it's not for them. |

Totally agreed. That is exactly my feeling. In AOC, you are some how forced to keep on doing quest, hardly got any chance to real look around. Play it for two days and already getting tired. That never happens to VSOH. About the graphic, there is little detail you could pay attention to, I cannot feel the water flew, the wind blew and sun, moon and cloud live in the sky like what I feel in VSOH. The world of AOC is beautiful, but thre is a kind of painting like feeling, your chr seems like on it ratherthan in it., if you can understand me. |

I am enjoying AoC very much and my AoC performance is 10x better than VG TODAY. The classes are fun, the combat is fast and lots to do. The graphics are amazing even on medium. So, unless VG has a "miracle patch" I think Ill stick with AoC..maybe if VG does get the fabled patch that fixes it id more than likely play both. |

The battles are no longer physical, its from within. |
Iam still waiting for the majority of posts announcing it has been fixed. In this case I'd have another look at it. I always loved its gremlin like music. |

Originally posted by Stellos I bought AoC yesterday. I am already thinking about deleteing it off my comp. Already canceled my sub. for next month. There is no replayability to AoC. 80 is the level cap. The first 20 levels are in a starter tutorial area, which forces you to follow a predetermined path and forces you to do quests. 20 + hours to reach level 20 to start to play the real MMO as they say. So, if you get bored with your main and want to roll a Alt, then you have to wast 20 + hours before you can really enjoy it. Along with redoing all the mission again and again and again!!! Graphics are great and game play is pretty smooth. But after 1 to 2 hours I grow bored of the quest and my fingers hurt bad. Can't make myself play any longer. Can't craft till level 40 either. Alot in game is broke too. Severs went down at 1 pm eastern time for 2 hours, then they added another hour. Now they added 2 more hours to the down time. It would be a great game if they sold it like Guild Wars. PAy once, then free online. But having to pay $15 a month for a game the 25% of the level cap is a solo game, is a scam! My 2 cents worth. Vanguard is still the best out there, even witht he minor bugs. It has no fear of AoC, after a few months people will grow old of the restricted game play and return to their old games or wait for a newer one to come out. |
