I haven't played since a couple months after release. Do monks still suck? Anything good they've done I should know about? |

Yes, now please welcome Vlad Vlad. |
I am new to the game and so far I really enjoy it.
It does not have the smoothness of Lord of the Rings Online but it has this original feelings to it. A feeling of being in this huge massive world that you just need to explore and such.
I am really enjoying it. It isn't perfect but I think it has a lot of potential. I don't know what they added since you left but I suggest you give it another go. GU5 is coming out soon and they are adding the faction system back in, racial mounts, a code to get rid of hitching and some other stuff.
You should check it out : D

Probably not until the berserker gets put into the game. Or they make monks useful. |

I don't think you'll ever see the Berserker. It's just not needed. As for Monks, they are a great class and very welcome when it comes to Raids. Since release there has been a great number of changes, and they only have made the game better each time. All you can do is give it a go and see. |

Originally posted by Trenchgun Monks are extremely useful. They are now the 2nd highest dps class, and designated pullers in raids, depending on your school of course. |

What makes them pullers, feign death? Or did they get any new tools to aid in aggro and pulling management. Seems kind of stupid if it's just feign death. Ranger should have been the designated pullers as longrang game hunting experts. Who has the highest DPS? Is it still the ranger? Or a Rogue under the right conditions? Or is it a sorc or something?

FD is the reason they are designated pullers. Highest DPS right now is a contest between monk and rogue. Rangers still do great DPS but not on par with a monk or rogue. As for agro issues. Our monks pull massive agro on raids and they always FD out of it. And don't bother waiting for the 'zerker. There has been no announcement on it in a very long time. I doubt it or the inquisitor will ever be put in unless they add them with an expansion, if they ever do one. |

Can you go into some detail about what changes they made to the fundamental dynamics of the monk since release to make them so worthwhile now? Or did they simply up the raw DPS of the monk and call it a day? Because last I remember there were some fundamental flaws in the way many powers worked, they were broken, useless, or imbalanced; And most importantly there was not balance or definition to the three paths. My monk WAS a lot of fun to play and watch in action, but ultimately I lost interest because I was working my ass off button mashing to get the most out of my monk's sustained DPS, only to be beaten by rangers or warriors who not only were able to outdamage me with no effort, but the damage they did was not nearly as situational as many of the monk powers were.
