The folks behind DarkSpace have sent along word of the latest update to their space MMORPG.

Since the successful rollout of DarkSpace version 1.483 there have been several more updates. due to player demand we have moved back to a control system where "lag" is much less visible to the player, although as in any MMO it is still present to some extent.

The latest version, 1.483.6 includes several fixes and improvements. The next version, which we are already working on will include the following changes:

Simplified resource system which will remove the multiple resource types in-game and replace them with one single resource type.
Simplified ship modding that will allow players to modify ship parts at any friendly planet. No factory build queues to manage or parts to buy from ports. You'll be able to simply target your ship sub-system and upgrade that device directly.
Space platforms!

A primary focus on the 1.484 version will be in making the game much more accessible to new players and allowing us to better highlight the strategy elements of DarkSpace. As with any MMO that has been in existence for more than 4 years there is a gulf between the veteran players and the newest community members and so we are seeking ways to redress the balance without impacting the hardwork our veteran members have put into the game over the years. Simplification of the less excitingelements also allows us to focus better and making the game as fun as possible and introducing more of the features that make DarkSpace so unique.
