I would love to return to EVE, but my son, wife, and university studies make it impossible.

For me the combat is lackluster. Sure you get a small square icon of what your enemies look like but the fight itself is like fighting x's. It the battles were a bit more like star trek online's where you get up close and personal with your enemies, I think I'd enjoy it better but after killing a few x's I'm bored.

Part of the elure for long term players is that you don't get everything when you want it.  This is a hard-core game for hard-core gamers who want to see their work and time develop into something big and good.  They have taken out some of the beginning delays in getting into some combat ships but the players who actually play the game hope your suggestion never comes to fuition.

It's lackluster if you are coming to the game looking for stunning visuals.  Actual fighting, not PvE, is much more than pretty explosions and awesome gun effects.  Players truely are affecting the entire game in their own regions or areas of space.

The game is not for the instant-gratification crowd.

The best quote in the entire movie is near the end where he states, "EVE, you won't get the most out of as a single player game."

I spent about 8 months playing Eve about 6 years ago, the game is work, it can be fun but also harsh. Always tempted to go back and try it again but dont have the time.
