Latest Headlines for EVE Online

  • EVE FanFest 2016 - A Journey Through Citadels

Launching today, the Citadels expansion is a significant step for EVE Online. It's the result of a journey that started with Rubicon, gradually handing more of the nuts and bolts of New Eden into the hands of players. What started as Ghost Sites and simple structures has grown into an artificial intelligence and full-blown Citadels. But this expansion is just a milestone on that journey, with much more to come in the years ahead.

  • EVE TV? Maybe!

According to Wired, CCP CEO Hilmar Petursson is on record saying that the studio is "actively working on a serial adaptation of the popular game" alongside best-selling author Ridley Scott.

  • New Trailer Sets Stage for Citadel Release

Fresh out of this week's EVE Fanfest, CCP has released a brand new trailer for the next big update called Citadel. Citadel is expected to be released for EVE Online players on April 27th.

  • Chronicles of a New Eden - Exploring Which Corporations to Join in World War Bee

If you haven't heard, EVE Online is on fire. Okay, well, not the entirety of New Eden is going up in flames. It's just the large swathe of northern territory owned by The Imperium. If you're not up to speed, I highly suggest reading the last Chronicles of New Eden to catch up to what's been going on.

  • Chronicles of a New Eden - War is Coming

The Imperium has finally done it. Through systematic aggression and alienation against the entirety of the EVE community, The MIttani, Goonswarm, and greater Imperium allies have somehow managed to find themselves in an all versus one war that will, god willing, dwarf any conflict that has happened in EVE Online to date.

  • The Imperium Under Siege

It appears that a war of fairly epic proportion is beginning in EVE Online with an alliance of player organizations taking on the mighty Imperium, the most dominant group in Nullsec. According to many, this is the largest war in years.

  • Chronicles of a New Eden - What I Expect From Fanfest

EVE Fanfest is now exactly a month away, and for those of you who might be unfamiliar, it's one of the biggest weekends all year for EVE Online. Between Fanfest and EVE Vegas, which I covered extensively last year, both gatherings are a chance for CCP to shake hands with their players, talk to them about upcoming changes, announce new projects, and then get blindly drunk. It's a pretty good time.

  • Citadel to Launch on April 27th

The much-awaited content expansion to EVE Online is now dated thanks to a new post on the game's official site. Citadels are taking EVE to a whole new level of player interaction by creating massive space stations that are the rough equivalent of player-created cities in space.

  • Players Take On New Mini-Game to Aid Scientific Research

With the deployment of the latest update to EVE Online, players can now take part in a special mini-game that will assist scientific researchers by classifying proteins. The more players work on identifying patterns, the more in-game rewards can be earned.

  • March Release Delayed

CCP Falcon has posted a short notiification on the EVE Online site that lets players know that the March update scheduled for Tuesday, March 8th has been delayed. Falcon also announced that a more definitive release date will be revealed over the next week or two.

  • Chronicles of a New Eden: Will There Ever Be a Sandbox to Rival EVE?

With games like The Repopulation, Albion Online, Crowfall, Camelot Unchained, Black Desert Online, and countless others, developers are finally starting to harness the creative power sandboxes contain. But will any of them ever be able to topple the greatest sandbox MMO of all time?

  • New Video Discusses Data Center, Project Discovery & More

CCP Seagull has posted the latest developer blog to talk about recent happenings in EVE Online. Most notably, the relocation of hardware and infrastructure for the game has been completed, though there were extended down time events along the way. By way of thanks for their patience, players with active skill queues between February 24 and March 1 will receive 200,000 unallocated skillpoints to be delivered by the weekend.

  • Chronicles of New Eden - Was Changing the Watch List a Good Idea?

EVE Online is a delicate game, and sometimes I have to wonder how CCP can ever make changes because comprehending how drastically those changes can affect its ecosystem would probably require its own degree. Yesterday during the EVE Online Nottingham (EVE_NT) meetup, it was revealed that a fairly major, and much asked for, change is finally being implemented into the game: The watchlist is being removed.

  • Skill Trading Begins with Latest Update

The ability for EVE Online players to extract skills to create a Skill Injector has arrived with the latest game update. Skill Injectors can be traded or even sold for in-game currency via markets with buyers able to use them to boost skill levels on a character of their choosing.

  • Chronicles of a New Eden - Becoming Pay-to-Win

It's no secret that the model for subscription-based MMORPGs is rapidly shrinking. Where coughing up fifteen dollars a month used to be par for the course in most online games, things are shifting towards the "freemium" subscription model where the cost of entry for games is free but as soon as you step inside you're likely to be funneled down a corridor made of hands that are constantly groping you until you finally throw them your wallet just to make the awkward torture stop.

  • Chronicles of a New Eden - The Joy of the Hunt

If you want one good reason why EVE Online is unlike, and in some ways more capable than, any other MMORPG, you only need to experience the joy of the hunt. The thrill of watching your prey, biding your time until that perfect moment when they are at their weakest. That moment when the stars align and their guard slips--who would notice?--and you're there to make them bleed for that tiniest of mistakes. That is the EVE Online I love.

  • Chronicles of New Eden - How Spying Has Changed

Few things in EVE have garnered as much attention from the outside world as the art of spying and counterintelligence. That shouldn't be all that surprising considering it is an aspect of play that is almost wholly unique to EVE Online; few other games will ever reach the depth and scale to make spying not only profitable, but downright necessary in order to succeed.

  • Valkyrie Alpha Testing to Begin January 18th

Owners of Oculus Rift DK2 headsets can sign up to help CCP alpha test EVE: Valkyrie beginning January 18th. Newly signed up players will be added to the testing in waves prior to the start of the first alpha event.

  • A Laundry List of Memories in 2015

CCP Phantom has posted a great look back at the year that was in a new forum letter to EVE Online players. It took three long posts to revisit the year's highlights, both updates to the game via patches, in-game events, and player created activities and content.

  • Holiday Collectibles Launch into New Eden

Collectors take note: The holiday collectibles for 2015 have officially launched into EVE Online. Players can take part in a couple of fun events to score a Festival Snowball Launcher, a Festival Fireworks Launcher and a pretty sweet looking festive coat or dress.
