HUet me Once and I'll hunt you down

I have read the hope for PvP choice and nasty bashes on why PvP is important to EVE.  I have a SIMPLE suggestion have all Jump Gates blanket the area for say 500 KM with a Target Jammer strong enough to stop even a titan from getting a lock. This would prevent Gate ambushers.

Personal Rant:

PvP in a zone is fine with me but Gate Ambushers are just scum.  To hit a helpless foe who has just jumped into a zone before he can even see that he is under attack due to lag and then have to sit there helpless while your being torn up and pod killed.  Took 3 very good friends to keep me on EVE after the 1st two days when I just happen to pass through a .4 zone.  I hadn't even been tought how to change the settings for the autopilot yet. I know why people quit EVE and it's NOT the games fault.  It's all you out there who think that by blowing up those weaker than yourself makes you a better character. A battle ship verses a frigette is not a battle.  Let those who want to take chances go out in the zone and take chances those who want to play let them not get kicked in the nuts just for being unlucky enough to run into a jerk.

Its low sec for a reason.  Pirates, or "scum", as you put it are just playing their role in the game just like you are running missions, mining or trading.  Just because you lost your stuff and got mad doesn't mean they should change the game.

sit in rookie help for a few minuets read why people quit in the post here gate ambushing is bad for business. If not for just being nice to people ti would make a significant finacial advantage to stop gate ambushing.

My original response still stands.  Low sec piracy and gate camping are a long standing game mechanic that CCP wont just up and change because you get miffed after losing a ship at a gate.  Plus there are several ways to increase your odds at surviving low sec gate camps; give them a shot.

"If not for just being nice to people..."  Haha Eve isn't nice.  Its a harsh space sim.  Maybe Eve isnt for you if you are looking for 'nice'.

What you see as "bad for business" or "a significant financial advantage" may not be what CCP sees.

Just out of curiosity and not a bash but how bad is your  lag and computer that you are getting shot at before the game loads on the other side of a gate jump ? You have 1 minute from the time you jump into a system before you automatically decloak and can be fired upon, this is really a pretty long time. Before implementing the jump cloak ganking before the screen loading was a pretty big problem but this was a very long time ago when the game just came out.

Most gate camps can easily be avoided as long as you aren't flying something big and sluggish like an industrial or battleship. Frigates are near impossible to catch and cruisers can even be hard to snag.

Keep this in mind. The vast majority of killing in Eve is not done just simply for the gank thrills. They are done to prevent and enemy resources, whether its supplies or manpower or the gank is done in hopes of getting good loot. Believe it or not some very valuable items have been gotten from a single shuttle which is obviously not a combat threat to anyone.

Actually maybe i mistyped he was targeting me before I uncloaked and my cruiser brand new to me at the time takes several seconds to start moving.  He hit  me with a warp staoper after I started moving but before the warp actually kicked in.  but the energy had been spent and due to the travel i was on and the fact that I had been manually jumping not autopiloting I simply did not have the energy to try again even if a distabalizer or nulifier would have given me a chance.  But I did not uncloak until after he had already highlited red.  If there is suppose to be a game mechanic that prevents that he found a way around... to be honest it was over a week ago and I'm really not upset personally about it any longer.  Despite my rant.  It gave me a purpose in the game I'm getting big enough and finding like minded people and starting a corp that's goal is to kill gate ambushers.  So all in all it turned into a boon. I do think that gate ambushing is wrong only now I'm going to make it a personal goal to make it hazardous as well.

There is currently no bug in game that allows you to target anyone during jump-in. You must wait until he decloaks manually or gets decloaked after one minute.

If you can't watch for yourself, then that's your own fault. Flying into lowsec without a scout is suicidal, i only do it in ships that i know are invulnerable in lowsec, or if intel channel suggests all pirates have been removed from the constellation. (being fast frigates, blockaderunners, pods, shuttles, recons and coverts)

Learn to protect yourself.

Frigates, pods, shuttles, ceptors and cov ops are far from invulnerable in low sec, most semi decent pirates will setup around the gate in a formation that allows them to smartbomb all of the main routes into a gate and a good portion of the spawning area around the gate they might get you past crappy pirates but you cant always avoid the more experienced pirates if your flying around unprepared.
