It's very simple - the game will always stay the same, and that gets boring after a while. 

Every time CCP think of something new and innovative, they make a different game out of it, e.g. - DUST 514 or Valkyrie.

Eve Online's new boss got her job because she thought of a slightly different way of selling Eve Online to people. In other words, she was not selected because she had innovative ideas for gameplay.


These days, developers generally feel that all MMORPGs have a lifespan of roughly 7 years. Unfortunately, I don't believe there are any significant exceptions to this rule.


There is often talk about Eve being too much of a challenge for some players. However, I think this is misleading. I would say that the big problem with Eve is that it's boring because the gameplay is tired, old hat, and lacks immersion.
