The Darkfall: New Dawn team has published the latest Road to Release that gives fans a look at progress being made on the game's first patch. In addition, the stress test is being actively prepared, though no date for the event has been announced.
The team behind Darkfall: New Dawn is working hard to make its version vastly different from the original Darkfall by solving some of the quality of life and power gap / grind issues that were present at the time.
As we said earlier, we have removed the skills that increased the maximum level an attribute could reach, but also those that would increase the maximum health/mana/stamina. These skills were all eventually skilled up to 100 and only made a new character at a disadvantage without adding any player skill requirements for the veteran. It did not provide a choice and just contributed to the power gap.
We’ll be doing a pass on all such skills, and remove them, or when applicable, we’ll make their effect baseline.
We’ll also take a look at prerequisites for skills and change them to flow better in a character’s progression. For example, we have already made the skills that increase regeneration rates unlocked at level 1 on character creation.
The end goal here is to have a smoother learning curve and allow for new players to play the game without having to understand everything straight away.
