Graphics: Outdated, but I've seen worse.
Sound: Annoying. Better played with sounds off.
Role-Playing: Weaker than it used to be, but still a lot more RP'ing than most games out there.
Value: Monthly fees + Item shop for a game that gets an updated every 6 months(or so)? Meh.
Fun: Fun until you master. EXP/AB hunting are pure grinding.
Community: You get to see the same old people everyday, which can be either good or bad, depending on your pespective. Mine? Bad.
Performance: Ustable. For a MMO with "only" 800~ average players. It's too unstable.
Customer Service: It has improved a lot from what it used to be, but still poor and with vague/automatic answers most of times.
Don't agree with me? Here's a tissue.

i played this game from around deoch 6. it was really fun in the begining, if you exclude all the stuck up people that used to play back then. but then i stopped playing for a while and started again and there was alot of new stuff. but overall the game really isnt that fun anymore, it used to be pretty cool. if you like roleplaying, then you'll love this. because if you are talking out of character and dont use brackets you'll actually get in trouble.... gay. but its easy, and kind of more made for just starting around talking with graphics, cause the game isnt all that amazing. it just used to have a fun factor to it before all the changes and the people in office.

I played this game since deoch 9 (1999)and I loved it, this game has a great community and the role playing is great.
The game is quite old now and compared with today standards is quite horrible but its worth a try if you want to enjoy a nice mmorpg.

I've been playing this game since Deoch 7 (Which means about a year after release or so) and it's the best damn MMORPG I've ever played. The game gives total control to players, with a bit of help from "Knights" which are equals to GMs that enforce basic game rules (such as botting).

The GMs are terrible. One of them was a former secretary. Do not waste your money.

I've been playing this game for a long time, and it still has one of the solidest, most close-knit communities in any MMO I've seen. It also has one of the best player histories, and I would argue THE BEST lore of any game currently on the market. The graphics are 2D, but don't particularly detract from the experience. Many of the newer spell effects/armors/etc. actually look very good. Sound is reasonable, and I would definately recommend downloading the music files; some of the pieces, particuarly for Undine, are surprisingly good.
If you're looking for a small, developed community, this is probably the game for you. I would suggest trying to find a guild pretty early; there are several that are very friendly to newer players and actively recruit them. It makes the game considerably more enjoyable, and gets you into the community much faster.

I've been playing this game for 3 years ever since I re-discovered it from the intial article in GamePRO magazine. Dark Ages is very different from your typical MMORPG. There is the typical level grind, as all games have, that is slowly improving with every passing update. Initially, the hunting aspect of the game is not fun -- but later, when you move on to your Medenian Class, you'll have the opportunity to do several large-group encounters, that are someone more challenging and less time consuming than WoW Raids. These encounters drop the best equipment in the game.
The true value in this game lies in the roleplay. There are very in-depth political and religious systems you can become a part of, and climb in rank through. There is also a contest system, which, in addition to giving your character exclusive, contest-winner only items, can also shape the events of the world. Nearly all of the game's history is player-created. Events created by KRU are usually based off of these player-created histories, or they'll introduce new storylines to document and expand on for history entries.
There are tons of things to do in-game. Bored of hunting? Go to mass. Bored of religion? Become a Guard and defend your city from murders and thieves! Bored of politics? Educate yourself and become a teacher! Bored of the college? Why not relax and roleplay in Suomi, the designated roleplay town, battle other players in the Arena, or just chill out and talk to your guildmates in guild chat.
I've played several popular MMOs -- and I have to say, this game takes the cake when it comes to roleplaying. No other company caters as much to it's customers, nor lets them shape the world as KRU does. This game is full of rich, Lovecraftian history, fulfilling high-level quests, and the potential for intense character development. If this is your bag, i'd definitely reccommend Dark Ages to you.

Well the graphics are ok for 2D but nothing special. The sound is there and acceptable. The roleplaying is a blast though. Monks have masters, there are sermons given at the church. There is a university where you can go to class. I had a lot of fun with this game but all of it was RP. Honestly the fighting was laggy and boring. This was all about the social side of things.
