You don't take my word that everything feels the same, but everything in the game has the same problems, the same issues that existed in SWG, including database errors, random mob errors, and the same banding of swg.  I love that you guys jump to defend this game, but ffs can you not just be honest?

Damn it. It's about that time I convinced Bubba to put on a mop-wig and poledance for the warden, isn't it?

You're missing the point.  Anyone who has played many MMOs (i'm at over 20 by now) has seen the things you mentioned in at least a few of them - Database errors? mob errors? banding? I've seen the combination of those 3 things in at least 6 games.  Some release before SWG and some after.

Something like 80% of concepts in ever MMORPG are the same as the others. That's what makes a game what it is.  OMG, FE has little icons on top of NPC's heads!  Just like AION!  Just like EQ2!  Just like WoW! Just like....  omg, they must have stolen the code!  Call the police!

I fail to see what your point is other than this game being similar in some ways to SWG.  Yes it is.  It is also similar in some ways to AO (if you don't know, AO has a system of Stats (Str/Int, etc) which then trickle down and raise your stats (Rifle, etc) and allow you higher caps on those stats - OMG!  same thing as FE!), similar in some ways to AoC (you need to actually watch where you swing the sword or you don't hit the mob!), similar in some ways to TR (it's an RPG with targetting!) , similar in some ways to EQ2, similar in some ways to Auto Assault... etc, etc.

As I said, every MMORPG on the market can basically be broken down into parts taken from other games.

I have to agree with OP.

The first thing i thought when i started playing was.... Now where do i find starwars galaxies old style UI lol

Thats how close it is to old style SWG in GUI, strafing and jumping.... Same stiffness, bad graphical world living in the same room kind of thing :p

Stuff just pop up in front of you when you ride you mount ----- and the loading of objects popping up, i can go on comparing stuff..

damnit it... it has to be the same engine as SWG?

Still its kind of a cool game FE

k by thx, back to FE

Same engine?

Nothing to back it up with

It has to be a code variant of SWG. One of the backed up iterations of the Star Wars Galaxies client server frameworks. It's all esoteric proof, but if you actually played the original game you'd know that some crazy shit happened and they either bought or stole the game.

Actually yes it does... Beyond that, I've played SW:G for over 5 years.  Pre-CU, CU, NGE.  Are there similarities? Very much so, to where I think SW:G influenced the developers a bit, or some of the devs (and I"m pretty sure this is the case) had a hand in developing SW:G.

But at the same time, there's a lot of differences too.  People brought up some very good points, MMO quests are MMO quests, there's only so much outside the box thinking you can do.  The LOD vegetation, you have a point, but at the same time it also looks similar to some other games.

Another thing I'd like to point out, there's plenty of people who if they look at a Potato Chip long enough, see Jesus.

There are similarities, and influences, but a copy?  No way...  For one reason above others, SW:G is still in production, it would be an instant lawsuit.   Which Icarus could ill-afford since Icarus is in the game-engine business.

How do you know that SW:G wasn't Icarus licensed enging technology?  Or a copy off of them? :)

Uh I played SWG the first 3 years and from that experience I can easily say the OP is full of it.

Same combat system!?  Rofl, there is no way the OP is even lvl 20 to say something like that.  Last time I played SWG I sure as hell don't remember manual targeting, it was all auto-lock/auto-attack BS.

Oh let me guess, you are referring to the 3 Stat bars because SWG had 3 stat bars too, oh wait, so did UO.

There is NO MMORPG out there whose combat system is anything like FE's.

And in my opinion Fallen Earth > SWG pre-cu and every other MMO since UO before Trammel/Fel.

Complaining about the Inventory system?  Looks to me like someone didn't read his manual because if you did you would know you can sort all of your invetory into categories ammo/weapons/armor tabs that all fit neatly into 1 box, smooth move.

Anyway, I find that FE is really good at keeping stupid people like the OP out of the game, which is one of the hundred things I love about the game.

We could ask the same from you, try to be honost.

I don't mind that you view it as a SWG clone type of game, but indeed like you say in your own words, try to be honost, instead you seem willing enough to not to be honost.

And like many said, sure there are similarities between the 2 games, but if we go futher we can call up 3/4/5/6/7 other MMORPG's that also would fit certain things/elements...

Again like you said in your own words: Try to be honost. Would have made a much better topic if you where indeed honost. As sorry to say can't see you as being honost, and yes I am a pre-cu VET (CB/OB/Release, til few weeks into the NGE) and even  8 months in 2007 player of SWG.

Also rubberbanding in FE, is something that can happen in any MMORPG as I have seen it happen in other MMORPG's aswell, should I now think those other MMORPG use parts of the pre-cu engine?

Landscape looks the same as pre-cu? Oh noes S1 is mostly sand, must be the same as tatooine, oh noes you can run uphil, thankfully we can, imagine those limited on even small rocks we see in most other MMORPG where you can't even jump over them, all those blindwalls making sure you can not walk the hill, thankfully we don't have that in FE, so is it a bad thing we can run up a hil with no trouble? I don't think so. Is it "stolen"from SWG? of course not, I am just glad we can....

Quests in SWG are so different from FE, if we compare pre-cu, or do you feel they might have stolen the current NGE code from SOE?

Overall this topic makes me wonder how long, or actualy how short he must have played SWG, can't be very long to come to conclusions he tried to share in his topic.

Again OP you try to be honost, would work allot better on forums like this.

Unless, ofcourse you have hard solid proof, which I doubt other then your view isn't there for you to share with us.
