This is just a small review from a guy who has been playing this game for 3 weeks and is level 15.
Things I Love - I love the crafting system. It is indepth i can craft many different things including vehicles, weapons, food, ammo, armor, medical supplies etc. The freedom is great.....i hate games where you have to pick a certain sub-category that you can craft and nothing else. - I love the lore. This is the first MMO ever where i am still reading every quest i get in full after 3 weeks of play. - I love the mounts. Any game where you cant put your mount in your back pocket I am always happy. I also like how my mount has inventory, health and stamina. And i can get mounts like motorcycles and cars instead of the crap you get in high fantasy MMO's.
Things i Like - I like the combat system. While i like it best out of any MMO i have ever played.....this isnt saying much. The combat is clucnky slow fps. But sure as hell beats auto-attack. -I like the quests. They are pretty typical of MMO's but b/c i am in to the lore of the game they dont seem as tedious. - I like the Gear. This game has awsome gear from shotguns to golf clubs to frying pans to automatic rifles. The armor is great too. There are alot of slots and each of them show up on your character. And even though they will mostly be useless there are 6 weapons slots which is awsome. -I like the community. Everyoen has been helpful. There are already great sites out there for help. There is a fallen earth radio station. There is contests going on all the time. The guilds seem great. GM's out all the time helping. Great community. Just wish people were not so solo minded. - I like the sound and music. The music fits the game pretty well but its a little repetitive. The sound effects are not awful but sometimes they are hilarious. - I like the graphics. They are not great but certainly good enough for me. Not one of my biggest concerns in a game. - I like how the game feels very uniform. The threats are similar from city to city and the land scape is similar form city to city. It feels like im playing a single game. Where in most fantasy MMO's every town has a different problem and the land scap changes from tropical to snowy with 10 minutes of riding
Things I Dislike - I dislike how the AI works in this game. When I shoot at a group of mobs and miss they shouldnt just stand there like idiots they should run at me and try to kill me. Also alot of the time when you shoot a npc, he/she runs all over the place before he/she actually runs at you which is just bad programming. This mobs do strafe which is nice though. - I dislike the lack of grouping and LFG function. Its a pretty solo friendly game with no fucntion to actually look for groups other then spamming region chat. Just not my style. - I dislike that it seems i have to pick a certain faction to be competitive as certain factions are geared towards certain play styles. I want to be a rifleman in CHOTA but to get some good skills for riflemen i have to choose Enforcers. With all the freedom in the game why the hell did they make there factions like this? its insanity to me. - I dislike how you can get AP from quests. This makes me feel like i have to visit every god damn starter town and do AP quests just to be competitive in PVP. Its the worst idea in this game IMHO.
Things I Hate - I hate the lag in cities. the game runs perfect with no lag when im not in a city.....but once i even get close to one my computer has a siezure. I hope this gets fixed soon. - I hate the crashes. I have had 6 crashes in 3 weeks which isnt awful but certainly the worst out of any MMO i have played.
Conclusion I am sticking with this game as its foundation is solid and can only get better in the future.

About your faction "problems". You can be Chota and be good rifleman np, you just need +1000 with a faction to get their mutation missions if that's what you preffer, after that you can either buy the upgrades the same time you are doing those missions, or if you short on chips (higher level ranks mutations are expensive) you can buy them from AH later or a friend with a right faction can get them for you, they are tradeable, same with rifle skills, books can be bought/sold. As a CHOTA you'll have Vistas as allies so you will get their rifle skills and mutations anyway. Being part of specific faction in order to be competitive is not mandatory. Only thing you lose is cap stones (the very few special abilities) you get at 45 which have requirements of 80K faction and maxed stats/skills that are related to the faction. Hardly a gamebreaking problem if you dont have those heh. Not to mention that they have mixed abilities too, Travelers (pistol speced faction) for example give melee ability cap stone.
You also seem to think that all APs are mandatory, They are not. Most of the bonus AP missions are in S1 but that's intentional because it gives you insentives to check out all towns in S1, check out all that content they made and get introduced to the factions and their lore and styles. On my main char I only did the AP missions in S1 and that was enough to get me to 18-19. I wanted to explore all towns anyway and since I was gonna do missions for XP anyway,I figured I'll just do the AP missions and pick up those APs while leveling up heh, logic. So no, getting bonus APs in S1 is not a grind like some people think, it is if you didn't know about them and decided to go for them at level 15 or so and even if you do them when you outleved the mobs the XP you get from the missions is same as all missions in S1 and S2.- 200-600 XP per mission is standard for both sectors. |
