I'm pretty much a carebear, but I rather love Sci-Fi games and open concept games. So, the question I have is... is PvP the core of this game?

AoC has non-consensual PVP. Fallen Earth has consensual PVP only, there are PVP zones and towns for players and guilds to battle it up. You can take part in that whenever you feel like it,no game mechanics are forcing you to PVP. This is true for everything in FE, no play style is forced on you, you can solo, group, craft, gather, explore, PVE or PVP whenever you feel like it and it's not mandatory for your char progression. |

I think you'd enjoy the game based on your comments. PVP is not a required system in the game. There are specific zones where you can PVP and later on in the game you will find specific "conflict" towns where you are able to PVP however the majority of the maps are openworld PVE. To give you an idea - I have been playing for a little over a month and thus far have done absolutely no PVP and have kept occupied the entire time. The biggy with this game is to "enjoy the ride" instead of trying direly to max your character instantly. From my understanding End game isnt too thrilling at the moment in comparison to what the rest that the game has to offer content wise. If you do decide to pick it up - feel free to shoot me an ingame mail (player name: Tox) and ill be more than happy to help ya out.

Well, PvP is a little offbalance, but its pretty fun nonetheless. At first I felt like it was crowded in the conflict towns as oftentimes you would run into a number of different clans trying to take a town, and the PvP would get pretty heavy. Then you'd have high level players come in to guard the lower players in S2 towns and etc. etc.
Luckily PvP isn't required, and although you'll have problems when clans are taking PvP towns, when they aren't (which is about as often as when they are) you'll be able to have an enjoyable time doing missions in the PvP areas or what have you. Also the non-conflict town PvP areas are also fun and theres always scavenging to be done in these areas which will always give you a purpose if noones in them at that time.
Overall though, I wouldn't say PvP is a must, but it has its advantages with deathtoll merchants, and AP quests given in the conflict towns. Its just enough to want to go through it , but not enough to where those that didn't do it would feel they're completely missing out. |

Yet you will find plenty of your carebear brethren on the forums whining that they get killed when they venture into PvP areas to harvest the best material. PvP may not be forced on you but you do sacrifice something for being a spineless coward. In FE that something is all the high-end harvest that you carebear ilk crave. You also will have to give up some of that precious bonus AP because there are quests that require you to risk your hide. The good news is that I can't steal your gear after I riddle your corpse full of lead (yet). |

I feel better not to have personal addicted to PvP to challenge me or attack me in every move I make with my char. Having PvP areas and PvE areas separated I think is the best way to balance the combat system in a game. |
