As they creep ever closer to launch, the team from Icarus Studios is providing us with a few exclusive screenshots from their upcoming MMO Fallen Earth.
Fallen Earth is a post-apocalyptic MMO that takes place in and around the area surrounding the Hoover Dam. Check out their official website.
You can tell they went for the Fallout 3 look.
Its a post apocalyptic world, wtf do u want it to look like? have u even played fallout?? its look nothing like it. The fact its post apocalyptic maybe has something to do with it looking post apocalytpic maybe? i dont maybe im stupid or something.
Yea, I guess your right about the post apocalyptic world. Buildings falling apart is standard fare. I'm just saying you could put some of these screen shots on the Fallout 3 forum and only the die hard fans wouldn't be fooled.
It's things like the vegetation. The fact that the shrubs don't grow more than 2 feet high. That there is no moss or ivy growing over the ruins. I get that it's a desert, but Fallout 3 was set in Washington DC and had the same feel. No trees?
Also, the mad max style raider outfits are familiar to fallout fans. I guess it's just a given that everyone will dress like the road warrior.
Nothing new here from the vision of what it will look like after the apocalypse. Super mutants, giant roaches and road warriors again. Hope there is some creativity I'm not seeing in these screen shots.
Yes, i've played fallout since the beginning. Tactics was the best one of the series.
From yesterday:
Looks to me that there's a forrest back there.
I have a feeling FE devs ain't spilling all the beans about the Grand Canyon yet.
Heckm one of the old screenshots they showed on the FE page, had a very colourfull pancake house on it... No more brown or gray! hehe
LOL...I love how people read one fucking thing comparing Fallout and FE in a forum and think if they regurgitate what they read it makes them look like they know something about Fallout and FE. Anyone who thinks they look alike has never played either.
Having sampled a journey into Fallen Earth myself, I can humbly say that this doesn't feel like Fallout 3. The only resemblance shared is the post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Even though I had just played Fallout 3 before embarking on the test, it really didn't have much effect on my opinion of the game.
It's not that "Fallout 3 is Washington DC and Fallen Earth is Arizona", it's not that at all. Fallout 3 is a very unique game, it holds onto this '50's fallout "red fever" idea, with a high-tech WW2 era. Real "leave it to beaver" stuff.
Fallen Earth does not feel like that at all. It's unique, and holds onto it's own version of a post-apocalyptic world. That's really a metaphor though, as 'apocalypse' really means a "revelation". So it could be anything, to be honest.
It is what it is, and I pre-ordered it today in fact. See you suckers in the early access September 9.
I'll have to take back my negative comments about the vegetation. Entire sector 2 is a forest. I wish they had shown some screen-shots from there.
I'm pre-ordered. Great game!
Yeah. It could not possibly have been inspired by the thousands of books, art, and movies depicting a post-apocalyptic world.
It's all fallout 3.
LMFAO, I don't know what movie those pics r from, and I have no idea what the point of posting them was, but I sure got a laugh outta them.
No washtubs in the firehouse with the town looking on in fallen earth, sadly.
"Mad max" And "a boy and his dog".
So did G.W.B in Iraq.
Imagine this. GWB: "We really liked Fallout 3 and we went for something similar.."
j/k :P
LOL sorry couldn't help it!
On topic: doesn't the world feels a bit watered down?
Why can't MMOGs resemble the quality of single player tittles for once..
Nope.
