At E3 2009, Fallen Earth Lead Designer Lee Hammock discussed Fallen Earth and what it's all about. Fallen Earth is a post-apocalyptic MMO based around an FPS style gameplay dynamic and a very open skill system.

I'd take barren nothingness that allows room for player made content like cities/housing/etc. over premade low scope pathed areas that players are meant to level through and never see again. 

Only I don't this game has all the player made content supported so... maybe one day.  Could turn into a cool niche game.
