mythic as really been busting its ass to improve on what was a good game to start out with. The new frontier is bitching and will give some whole new depth to the frontier wars. I am just wondering if there will be the boat battles since they are the only way to go between the realms now. I have been away for a bit and have not really heard much on it. if any one has any word on thids holler back. till then I will try and come up sith a new for my boat....

well I hate to dissapoint you, but I don't think there's going to be any boat battles.  The enemy needs to land on the shores of the frontier for anything to even start to happen.  Although boat battles would be a ton of fun!  I stopped playing DAoC for quite a while, and just got back into it cuz of the new frontier stuff coming out soon :)  I'm excited about it.

do you need to have the Trials of Atlantis expansion to use the boats?

Don't mess with a Malkavian, you're likely to get your head bitten off...

In order to use boats in TOA, you need The TOA Expansion.

The ability to use boats in RVR will be given through the upcoming release of "New Frontiers", regardless of any existing expansions.

Do you think than, TOA will be a good expansion or not?

Won't she kill the game?

Due to the age of DAOC, the majority of current players have high lvl to capped characters in RvR.

If you at all wish to compete with or against these high Lvl's, TOA unfortunately is a must.

TOA wasn't a waste of money for me, i enjoyed the new lands, quests items and other benifits it brought to the already succsessful game.

Did something important changed ? In some reviews TOA was the best add on. I play DAOC since 1.1.04 so I still explore the old game. TOA is for me, just some new quests and areas. I have no idea what important will change

I logged on to the open beta of New Frontiers yesterday. Whatever one may say about it, NF is certainly different from the current version.  I thought the graphics were significantly better, but not having much information about the new commands and features, it was a little frustrating.  I hope that in time, as I become familiar with the terrain and new features, that  will be resolved. There is going to be a learning curve at first.

I suppose my biggest concern is how it will affect RvR as it is now played , and how it will affect my main characters. As one that plays mostly stealthers, including a minstrel, NF makes monumental changes.  From my very brief experience with NF, it is going to be about large groups taking and keeping keeps.  If my observation is correct, then the days of  soloing and small stealther groups are coming to an end. It's all going to be about groupability.

NF is still in early beta, and I'm sure many things will be changed; however, the fundamental principle of making RvR one of taking keeps and defending them is not going to change.  With the elimination of choke points and keep to keep transportation, the days of stealthers ganking players is going to be nearly impossible. Whether that's a good or bad thing is another question, but it will certainly change the way many stealthers play.
