Well...there is a class called "warrior" ;)
In DAoC tanks are kinda devided into the categories heavy tank, light tank and hybrid tank (has spells). What type are you most interested in? |

Well I can tell you the armsman is the worst out of the 3 because they had to double spec to be the same as their counterpart. This is just from what I've heard since I never played any of them. The 2 tanks I did play were the pally and zerker. From what I've heard, it's supposed to be the warrior, follow by the hero, then armsman. The hero did have an ability, in which he could turn into a elk to get some more hp[if he's low on hp]. It was classic watching a hero fight a zerker, since both could transform. The zerker transformed into a bear, and the hero into a elk. By the way, the zerker is a lite tank class, not heavy tank.

The only heavy tank I've played in RvR is the Armsman. I don't mind it, but I know Warriors and Heroes are probably a better choice. If you consider a "warrior" to be any type of tank, I would consider a Reaver. They have tremendous damage potential and are very fun to play.

I wouldn't play a tank if I were you,but if you have to, try a Thane. They at least can do spells. New Frontiers is a caster's game. |

Mids - warrior, savage, berserker. Light tank would be a thane. Albs - armsman, mercenary, reaver. Light - paladin Hibs Hero, blademaster. Light champion and to some degree warden. I have a thane, champ, and warden, wardens actually do pretty well. Tanks dont fit all groups anymore, but if thats what you want to play - give it a try : I forgot about Skalds and Valkyries for Mids. both hybrids/light tanks. There are many that think valks are the best -- I have both of them -- valk I quit playing after 38 or so - but I very much like my skald! |

Any person with the right knowledge of styles, specs and template is able to quite well against anyone. Obviously in most counts yes realm rank sometimes matters, but I've seen RR10's tank's get decimated by RR5's all by knowledge of their class. A couple years ago I was able to solo Armsmen on a tri spec healer. Obviously the days are long since gone, but when and what to use at the right time either in solo or group is capable. On a midgard perspective your heavy tank warrior will basically do a lot for you in any given situation and so should any heavy on other realms, although I know warrior would probably have the upper hand in most fights. |

I say go 1 of 2 ways. Hib Firbog Blademaster blunts or Half Ogre Merc blunts. The great damage output is better than armor. If you can surround yourself with good healers you can kill faster than any heavy tank.

Wrong. Mid: Heavy- Warrior. Light- Savage, berserker. Hybrid- Thane, Valk, Skald. Alb: Heavy- Armsman. Light- Merc. Hybrid- Reaver, Paladin, Friar, Hib: Heavy- Hero. Light- BM. Hybrid- Champion, Warden. I'm a tad tired, so I may have left some off the list. But a heavy tank is not a reaver, reaver has spells and crap, making it a hybrid. Mercs are a light tank, they dual wield and use chain. ect. |

Doesn't pally classify as heavy tank? He uses plate but doesn't really do much damage tbh so maybe he is a hybrid. Anyway, I have to say (I have limited experiences with tanks in RvR) that the best tank in RvR is reaver or valk. I just like doing levis to uncareful opponents when I'm in a group. Also, stealther hunting is pretty fun too. On the other hand, I like playing valk if I'm in the support role. It can be fun too |

Heavy tanks are on a higher weaponskill table, and recieve the bonuses of heavy tanks (less magic damage taken, less siege damage taken, ect). A paladin will always be on a lower weaponskill table, plus his dependence on spells. Therefore, Paladins are hybrids, using magic and melee

lol, all groups fall to 3 thanes, 3 valks and a skald and healer..lol
As far as Hibbies go Champions are it. Only tank class ill play as a hibbie. Albion Reavers and Pallies in conjunction are evil. |
