Im looking with envy at SOE's Everquest 2. They keep pushing out new expantions and updates so fast the players cant even keep up. And then i look at my beloved daoc. Sure, some stuff happens but it's not much. It feels like they didnt buy the title, they bought the people behind it or some other business things that has nothing to do with the game or it's players.

But that's just a feeling i have. I have no idea what's happening realy. Besides that they do not think it's a good product that is. And they are not making enough money on it. or something. . .

Trust me OP I see the irony when everyone and their mom says DAoC had? the best RvR ever. It is basically a untapped gold mined EVERYONE has wanted duplicated and some have tried and failed hard.

Fun Fact: If everyone enjoyed the game, it would be POPULAR.

Harshness asside, lets face it, its an old game. People become less atracted to those games. What makes it worst, most hardcore games are far less attractive to new players. Its usually not because tey are harder, its because they become tedious and at times can allow for easy imbalance to things.  The new players are the gold fish while more experienced players are sharks. Guess who will win?

By the time EA bought Mythic DAoC had already lost a good portion of its player base.   They bought it after Mythic aquired the rights to make WAR.   I would imagine how WAR did upon release pretty much killed any real development in those two titles.

I was still playing DAoC up until just before Aion came out.   Not that I moved to Aion I just remember it was close to release.   Then they decided to take the most populated cluster (the classic) and make this huge super cluster with the TOA ruleset and thus I was gone and never going back.

I never really did understand that concept.   I mean they kept the co-op thing going with an almost non existant player base.. but merged all the people who didn't want to play TOA in with those that had stayed on the TOA clusters.

Then they dangled that "real classic" server carrot until they released the FAQ and it was like a list of the most messed up ideas I had ever seen.

Its sad that they don't put time into DAoC development but honestly.. for those still playing its probably a good thing.

I mean relatively becuase its EA's product as well... they still put time into UO and UO expansions... well at least they had one not long ago and even launched into a new market.   UO was my favorite MMO ever but I'd never play that again... EA's development.. add Ninja/Samurai to UO among other things.   Maybe I missed it but I don't remember Ninja's in my Ultima games.

EA = RPG and MMO graveyard. if they don't make crap shit right away, they're buying a good developer and steadily dissolving the studio(people) bit by bit and whoring out its name.

lol @ 9 EA owned studios now called "Bioware".

And as we speak Everquest 2 get's yet another addon, a dungeon builder. What does EA provide Daoc with. More artworks and t-shirts.

It makes me sad. And EA have alot to make up with this game.

EA doesn't give a fuck. They'd rather close down a dying game than invest money and try make it work again. EA has probably closed down more MMO games than all the other companies combined.

Your wish of DaoC (or WAR) ever again getting a major content patch is a silly pipe dream. Get over it and stop giving them your money.

EA have provided ZERO long term support to every single MMO they have put out, not just the ones made by mythic.

Watch with SWTOR - unless its subs keep going up and up and up, you won't see an expansion for it.
