So, after not playing DAOC for over a year me & the girl decided to resub back after our 14days free comeback "offer" expired today. However, our issue is that I had 3 accounts for DAOC & she had 3 accounts so we can play together and have a blast.

Now, the problem comes in when I tried to put all our accounts BACK on my Debit card. Let me be clear, I have NEVER had a problem putting multiple accounts on one debit card, let alone SIX accounts. However, when I tried to resub the second of six accounts I got an error claiming I could NOT use the same card more than ONCE every 24hrs.

So, being the level headed guy that I am I called into customer support only to be greeted by a VERY aloof customer support agent who not only claims she cannot help (in her mumbling & distracted manner), but leaves me COMPLETELY without recourse.

To Recap: EA/Mythic have set in a new policy at LEAST within the past two months that disallows the SAME Card to be used more than once every 24hrs, and disallows more than FOUR accounts to be attached to ONE card. This completely destroys families & loved ones from playing together whom live in the same household unless they have a crap ton of CreditCards/Debit cards. But, if you're like me you like to have everything on one card so you don't lose track of subscriptions. I absolutely refuse to use more than one card, if I owned one...which I don't, for MMO subscriptions. Not only that, but EA/Mythic seem to be the ONLY MMO company that refuses paypal. Hell, even SOE takes PayPal!!!

/Thoughts?

Aaactually, Sony doesn't use Paypal either.

Hmmm, sounds like a time frame limit which might to prevent card theft.  I've known people who had charges on their cards from MMO games that they never player and are not gamers period.  So just wait a day for another accout to be added...not a big deal after you account it as a saftey feature from what is sounds like.

But do agree that the 4 account cap is crap though.

No, it's a very terrible policy. If I call in WITH my Debit/Credit card in my hands with all the viable information for EACH account I should be able to wave that timer. No questions asked, I'm the customer....that's how a business works. The moment a "theft prevention" system interrupts the basic customer transaction that's when you know there's a horrible business practice going on.

I use prepaid credit cards.   Careful which one you use cause some only work in the USA.   I wish they would make a 15$ universial game card someday.     Ive had my CC stolen to many times from me and had a nightmare one time,  I had Law enforcement showing up at my door asking me why my crediti card was used at an illegal site in Russia.

Long story short watch your bills, I once caught someone charging thier house payments to my CC.     For me using a CC online has been a nightmare and Ill never use mine again for online purchases.

They do take PayPal, granted you need a PayPal debit card for the subscriptions. However, they DO take Paypal straight up for their StationCash store as that's how I got station cash numerous times while playing EQII.

I know, for a FACT, SONY takes paypal for StationCash & with PayPal debit card I can buy a subscription....unlike Mythic.

Well I can see how this type of policy would help in the creation of gold farming and spam accounts. I'm guessing that's not a big problem in DAoC, but WAR had a large number of those when I played and the two games would use the same billing system.

In all honesty, though, I don't think this is inconvenient for a majority of gamers who play these games. You must realize that you're in the minority of players who use multiple accounts, and 6 total is rather excessive as well. I'm not telling you that's bad or anything, and for you this policy totally sucks, however anytime they up security or make it harder for a credit/debit cards to be abused that's a good thing. Especially in light of the whole Sony debacle.

Sorry your gaming got messed with, though, dude. :-/

Do you use Internet Explorer?

Do you download a lot of eroneous stuff (like porn etc) from untrusted sites?

Do you visit a lot of random message boards, like Manga related or otherwise?

Did you ever use a sharing software, similar to LimeWire?

Did you ever open eroneous emails that you didn't know who they came from?

I don't expect, or want you, to answer any of these questions here. Ask them to yourself & then examine your past usage. Any of the above means your CC information was right out in the open as these are some of the MOST famous ways to have your CC stolen.

Knock on Wood, but I've never had my CC number stolen....EVER, and I've been doing online purchases for 10years straight without issue.

EA/Mythic did this because of  three things Identity theft, credit card theft, or that issue Mythic had a while back multiple credit card charging. Where Mythic bank charged customers bank account 10 to 50 times. I only got charged 8 times in that screw up but some people that had multiple accounts all on the same day got screwed really hard during that issue. So I thing thats why Mythic changed their card policy.  So we won't get screwed so hard if that happen again.

So, instead of fixing their billing system they put a stopgap on the system to begin with so people get completely frustrated & choose NOT to subscribe because of it? That's not a fix, that's a hinderance to a business.

Your girl could use her own debit/credit card too.

Knock on Wood, but I've never had my CC number stolen....EVER, and I've been doing online purchases for 10years straight without issue.

From what I learned when I got my IT degree, thier is no possible way to secure your info on your computer, people say I got the damn best anti software.   Long story short every anti spy software or anti virus software out thier cant stop hackers, hackers have a time lead on all software, new virus doesnt fit definitions on your anti software.   Like you said all it takes is one click, thiers a million ways they can get your info.

Maybe Im unlucky but this happens to millions of people now.    I have many IT freinds that refuse to use social sites like Facebook, cause they know that your info will be stolen at some point.   This is a problem that is only going to grow cause hacking sofware is getting easy to use.

And one other thing hackers arnt always out for money when they virus you up.    Bot nets are the engines that they use to hack with, your computer might already be one of these tools they use.    A good hacker can Bot up to a million machines to use against high level targets.     Many hackers have gotten away from CC theft, and hire themselves out with thier bot nets to attack buisnesses or governments.

You can actually hire hackers to break into your GF or BF email for 20$ if you think thier cheating on you, no lie and they can gaurentee the hack or your money back.

Bad written billing system lead to less accounts and players... I hope they'll fix it!

Spelling and grammar do matter.

I find your lack of real-life skills disturbing.

Ok, so no security system is ever totally secure. But if you know your credit card is compromised, why haven't you asked your CC company to give you a new CC card number? Or if they did and you are still compromised, why are you still doing business with that company?

You don't need 20/20 hindsight to see why the successful early-October launch of Dark Age of Camelot was such a significant event in PC gaming. It's safe to say that this impressive online role-playing game marks the dawning of a new era in a gaming genre that has steadily gained prominence since Ultima Online made national headlines in 1997.

Developed by the experienced but heretofore little-known Mythic Entertainment, Dark Age of Camelot squarely takes aim at other popular online role-playing games--namely, Sony and Verant's definitive EverQuest, Microsoft and Turbine's Asheron's Call, and Funcom's recent sci-fi-themed Anarchy Online--and, by and large, it blows them away

Not likely, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, may have placed the requirement. Working in banking, I'de wager it was the card service requiring that.
