This happened several times on Mid-Perc.

/150 attackers killed a realm guard.

/alliance Alb relic raid!  Everyone to the frontier!

50 person dragon raid AT the dragon

/raid leader SUICIDE!  Muster at Yggdra

Everybody finds nearest mob, sits down, dies, rezzes and hits Yggdra.

3 minutes after inital call of relic raid 6+ full, balanced groups hit the frontiers while everybody else is forming up.

Most newer mmo's steer away from that, but some of my fondest socializing in daoc was when grinding pygmy gobs or trees in lyonesse for hours. You'd get to know the people pretty well, and there'd even be a waiting list of people wanting to join.

Why do we miss this Tuktz? The social aspect maybe?

I think it's because people had time to sit and talk - yeah, the social aspect.

In Hib it was fins  (chanter focus pulls).

Also spent a ton of time doing abys groups in Coruscating Mines with one of my best buds who three-boxed (champ, druid, bard).   No bots - he played all 3 of them RvR - casting, fighting, etc - and held different conversations on each.  They had totally different personalities.  People thought he was 3 guys, lol.  The only thing that slowed him down any was some of the stairs in the keeps because he had to drive them seperately - his druid would lag off of AF.  One time his bard LDd and didn't port to Mid, so he fought the other two on the first keep take of the night (with defenders, and right up to the lord room) while running the bard seperately through the frontier to catch up with the group, once the next port came.

He used to tap the mobs as he ran me up out of CM so that they wouldn't jump me - my little short luri had trouble squeezing through "the crack" (shortcut out of CM at abys), and was always a few levels too low for things due to too much time spent crafting.  One time he ran around into all the nooks and crannies tapping and pulling every mob in the mine to the zone, and then stood there killing all of them instead of zoning out - five or six people who had just zoned in hung around watching him and then applauded, lol.

Reminds of olde Jaywiz (aka Team Wizzy).

Haven't lived till you've been insta-killed by that.

Oh God Team Wiz was on igraine, i still don't know what kind of setup he must have had to run all that.

"how close are you to level?"

        "2 bubs."

"lets go down another level then seals are better and mobs are easier to pull"

bubbles in daoc and seals and levels in DF oh how i miss those days

People used to ping healers all the time to come rez them, no matter where in the zone or dungeon you might be.

Thing is, we used to go do it more often than not, and it was never hard to ask your group to stop pulling so you could go rescue some downed party that was nearby on your level.  (most of them would come with your for safe escort)

Oh yeah, and people would say "thank you" after you raised them.  (heck, some even paid your group in gold if it was a particularly daring rescue)

Good times

Wow, so true.  People were nice then.  I had forgotten.

We used to do this in FFXI as well. The older games are so much better than the newer just becaues of things like this.

"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then we’ve got another one that is actually going to be – so we’re going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what we’re targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you can’t hold me to it. But what we’re targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo

- rabbit holes

- mini dings

- my con merchant that I always forgot to check/restock

- the inevitable cleaning of house when DF changed hands

- the many hours spent killing and being killed at the alb SI portal on mordred

- /stick

- minstrels/bards/skalds

- /hood

And yes, I created an account here just to chime in on this thread (and others) due to both loving my time in DAoC and the high hopes I have for CU.

Honestly, I do not know if it was a widely used term or more of a realm/server thing. Either way, shortcut out of a dungeon that did not involve creating a train or dying and losing durability/xp. And it was just fun to disappear into a wall or a floor and have someone /who to find out you were in a completely different zone 5 seconds later.

Also, for some reason I just remembered my giant boat that fit in my toon's pocket and wonder how I managed to forget about it in the first place.

Dungeons, particularly DF had one I remembered.......people used it to teleport to their bind without suiciding.

you fell through the floor floated for a bit then zoned to bind....
