  • Running with the Gods in Crucible

With Skyforge firmly in retail release and the first major update, Crucible of the Gods, already deployed, we reached out to Obsidian and My.com to talk more about Crucible, what it brings to the game, the part feedback played in some of the design decisions and much more.

  • What Class in Skyforge Should You Play?

With Skyforge being the hot new game on the block right now, it makes sense that so many of us are playing Allods and Obsidian's latest. But there are an awful lot of classes in the game, and some take a lot of work to unlock. So why not let us help you decide which class to work towards with this week's quiz?

  • Review in Progress - My Ascension Slows

My epic ascension to god-hood slowed down this week. The reason was twofold. On one hand, I had to review Kyn (a fun little Indie RPG), but on the other hand I was actually very glad to take a break from Skyforge. After putting in over 40 hours since Open Beta Head Start, the repetitive nature of Skyforge’s content is starting to get to me.

  • Five Games to Watch in the Second Half of 2015

It’s hard to believe that it’s July, and we’ve already seen a number of highly-anticipated titles release in the first half of the year. Pillars of Eternity, The Witcher 3, and Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward are all out, The Elder Scrolls Online has launched on consoles, and there have been open beta or “live” releases for Trove, Heroes of the Storm, and Skyforge.

  • My Love/Hate Relationship with Skyforge

Don’t get me wrong, Skyforge is a pretty fun game, but it’s obviously flawed in so many ways. So much so that my desire to keep plugging away at the Ascension Atlas, repetition be damned, is something that boggles my mind whenever I click play.

  • The Frustrating Things about Skyforge

Now over a week in, and about 20-plus hours into life as an immortal, we’re delving further into the nuts and bolts of My.Com’s Skyforge. A brand new F2P MMORPG from Allods Team and Obsidian, there’s no denying Skyforge is a beautiful game with a unique take on the MMO forumula. But does it have the draw to keep players going? Read on for week two of our Review in Progress series.

  • Review in Progress #1

Skyforge is a bit of a dark horse. While I doubt the game will come away with accolades and throngs of fans attending cons to praise it, Obsidian Entertainment and Allods Team have doubtless crafted a unique and engaging MMORPG. I’ve been playing for about 15 hours so far, and while some things worry me, the most important part is there. Skyforge is accessible and fun, with loads of goals to work towards.

  • How to Unlock New Classes in the Ascension Atlas

Skyforge is now in early access for its Open Beta, meaning throngs of people who paid for founders packs are now playing what’s essentially the launch version of Allods Team’s and Obsidian’s Free to Play MMORPG. And if there’s one thing Skyforge does different from its predecessors, it’s the class system and its accompanying Ascension Atlas. Today, we’ll explain how and when you’ll unlock Skyforge’s many available classes.

  • Power Rankings - MMOGs Currently In Beta

If we were to count all the MMOGs and quasi-MMOGs presently in various stages of testing, I have no doubt that the total would have three digits. Naturally, they'd differ widely with respect to how much interest they are generating. Frankly, we'd find a fair number that are effectively invisible, unknown except to the most ardent industry observers.

  • My 2015 Year To Date MMOG Power Rankings

Does anyone actually know how many MMOGs are out there now? I certainly don't. Indeed, the category has grown so much that I can no longer even estimate the total number with any real confidence. Many are, of course, not very prominent. Others are a lot more visible and fare far better in terms of attracting and holding our attention. This is my completely personal, subjective ranking of the titles that have had the most interest value for me so far this year.

  • Closed Beta First Impressions

Skyforge, part of a joint development initiative between Allods Team and Obsidian with My.com as the publisher, recently hit closed beta status. Expected to launch just a little bit later this year, the F2P MMORPG is one we’ve been following for a while. We’ve been dabbling in the beta, and these are our initial thoughts.

  • Obsidian's PVP Plans Revealed

Recently, we were privy to a developer Q&A with Eric Demilt, Director of Development at Obsidian on the upcoming MMORPG Skyforge. Obsidian is developing the game in cooperation with Allods Team, and though we’ve slowly been learning about some of the many classes in the game lately, Obsidian and Allods decided that the time was right to pull back the curtain on the title’s PVP modes. Read on for the full details.

  • Everything About It Is Beautiful

I’d been seeing images of Skyforge for some time before Gamescom. Everything about the game is beautiful. It’s a Science Fiction-Fantasy MMORPG from the makers of Allods Online. Combat is all geared towards action and somewhat reminiscent of console games in that there are combos to learn for various attacks. I was never good at learning combos in my old school Street Fighter days and if my demo at Gamescom taught me anything it is that nothing has changed.

  • Hands On At E3 2014

This time around, the Allods Team studio has enlisted the help of veteran RPG developer Obsidian Entertainment to bring Skyforge to Western Audiences. This week at E3, we were able to go hands-on with the alpha build of the new MMORPG, and get a feel for the combat and Ascension Atlas: the progression tree for Skyforge’s characters.

  • Eyes on the New MMORPG at GDC

This week at GDC a new MMO made quite a statement to join our ranks. Skyforge will take your character on a journey from mortality to immortality as you ascend slowly into godhood. This MMO has a lot of interesting new features and we will begin to highlight a few here. The team who made Allods Online has joined with Obsidian Entertainment to create Skyforge which will run as a free to play MMO with a huge world and a strong action combat play style that changes with each class you choose.

Interviews

  • Talking Skyforge and F2P With Obsidian

Last summer, we learned that Obsidian Entertainment had been retained to help develop Skyforge. Since the studio is strongly associated with standalone RPGs, this news was interesting and at least somewhat unexpected. Following E3, where parts of the game were playable and appeared to be favorably received, I had the chance to follow up with Development Director of Culturalization Eric DeMilt about his team's role on the project.

  • Top 10 Most Anticipated MMO Releases of 2015

Right now we are in a bit of a lull in the MMO release schedule. Crowdfunding campaigns like Crowfall keep on trucking and the astronomically high level of hype around Star Citizen continues to escalate, but both of those games are pretty far off from a real release. This list isn’t going to mention any current crowdfunding games, nor will it mention stuff that will go into a closed alpha of any kind – only open betas and full releases.
