I'm impressed - not so much that a new booster is coming out, but rather that there are enough players still in Rubi-Ka to support a booster.
I'd go back to AO if the graphics and 'physics' were improved a bit. Best of luck AO!

I agree with Ramses... I've always wanted to return to Rubi-Ka, loved the game... Maybe since it was my first MMORPG. But I'm a bit of a graphics junky and games with better graphics lured me away fro AO. If the ever do implement the AoC graphics engine in AO, I'm there!

Well, good news for you folk checking this out now, but dubious about the old graphics. A new engine has been in the works for a long time, and is hopefully just a few months away.
Far enough away for you folk to come back, get your bearings and do the years of catchup needed to be join us in Legacy! ;)

This looks great!, AO was my first MMO also and it was awesome however after playing it for several years it became apparent that FUNCOM was focusing on the old peer group pressure forcing players into group/guilds to achieve latter game encounters preventing those of us who enjoy solo/co-op play - looks like they still do :(

if they ever update the graphics Id give it another whirl. I took an engineer uo to 132-ish back when shadowlands came out and despite the old graphics there was just SO much to do, it was a blast.

So, coop play is not with a single team, or max two teams? Coop is you and your other account duallogged? Or just one other guy? "Massively Multiplayer" ... Also there's plenty of solo content all over the game and most endgame can be done with just you playing with friends. If you only have one friend, find more.

New content is BS? What kind of retarded viewpoint is that? Please, let us have some reasons. Then, when you're done you could look for the info, like AO is currently being upgraded to take advantage of modern graphics hardware with a new rendering engine, with all the effects such grants. Latest news say it's a few months away.

A Game Director that knows what he's talking about, AO has had some great directors compared to other games out there. But why can't they get the engine finally finished and relaunch the game to get the pop back up? Rimor is getting lower and lower =(

Silliron was a great Game Director, and Means is great too! I would like to see something different though, that they add. I will wait to see.

I reckon it's only a matter of time before they release the new engine, mainly because there are only 3 people working exclusively and solely on the engine itself. Not to forget that the ENTIRE AO dev team counts 11 people. ;)

OK, the youtube link didn't work for me but I did a search in youtube and found several videos. The environment is incredible for a game that old, I guess that is the graphics update.
Now what about the character models? How do they look?
My first game was EQ, after Luclin, so the models were not square boxes...but then I went to SWG....that became my all time favorite game until NGE!!
I still search for the ultimate Sci-Fi game as I am tired of the Fantasy BS that keeps coming out. I was looking forward to CRUSADES by Vizualfx but can't seem to find info on it anymore.....
I will have to check AO out, but just want to know what the avatars look like.

Now that TR is no more, those players looking for a Futuristic MMO might consider going back to AO. In an MMO you do allot of running around and inadvertently, site seeing. The graphics are just too dated to hold the majority of MMO players out there, no matter how great the content / story. If the new AO graphics engine can come close to what TR was, I would definitely give them another shot.

They really need to get that graphics update out the door. Evidenced even just in the comments here, there is a good deal of interest in the game if they just made the UI a bit less horrible and the graphics slightly less eye stabbing. I've always wanted to get back into it, and while I have tried on a previous occasion, not even so much the graphics, but the UI was just too painful to use. I remember it being bothersome at launch, having used more modern ones, it's just completely unpalatable.
