There are so many things to do...if it can be done in an MMORPG, it probably is implemented in AO in some form (in an absoloutely HUGE gameworld). That said, there are still plenty of bugs and poorly implemented ideas in this game. The development team is incompetent (I'm very serious about that) and the forums are "plagued" by fanbois who attack anyone making legitimate, yet negative, comments...thereby not letting Funcom see "real" feedback. It really annoys me when someone reasonably posts on the forums about one of the many problems in-game and then some fanboi comes along and says "if you don't like it, don't play". Despite the incompetent dev team and the recent flood of fanboism in the forums, the game has been my home for years. There simply is too much I can do in-game and that's hard to find in a modern MMO. If you think you can overlook the "wtf were they thinking" moments in-game, then you may want to check out the free version, before paying. The extra content is well worth a subscription price though. As for my own subscription, I'm anxiously waiting the new space/scifi games coming out in hopes that I can finally ditch Failcom. You can get all the expansions for free, you just pay a sub fee. And since this game is 8 years old, it has tons of content. Fun-Get in a good organization, pick the class you want to play, and do what you want to do. You can play solo, group, do missions, PVP, craft, your alwaying having fun. Community-Right now, since the game is very top heavy, newer players aren't too frequent, so in the beginning there isn't too much of a community, and there are a lot of elitists in game. Totally different than the official forums, where they are very helpful. Performance- The game's biggest problem. Since the game is 8 years old, it really doesn't use a graphics card to run the game, but your com, which can lead to bad lag and such. Customer Service-I've only contacted FunCom once, but they were very helpful and solved my problem. There is also in game GM's, and they're now working on a Professionals program where players who know there class real good can help newbies. All in all, AO is one of the best MMORPG's out there content wise. It has so many items you always have several choices for gear each level, the character customization between perks, IP spending, implants, and research means your character is almost never like another. It is dated, however, so the graphics and how it runs isn't perfect. If FunCom releases the new engine to improve graphics and animation, I honestly think AO will be the MMO to play for players who want depth in there MMO. Wed Dec 02 2009 4:02AM
