Ok all you froobs out there, stop harrasing people for cash! You have got a free game here, let me repeat that FREE so don't bother the people who have paid for the game for cash because you can't be bothered to go out and earn it! Sure, it's ok if you say "please" and "i'm only 500 credits off this item" but people who make Atrox characters, put them in bikinis and sit em on the hill with macros all over the place with /emote dance and yelling "I am a sexy L33T dancing atrox mo-fo! Gimme cash D3WD cos I want sum UBER stuff!". Now that is just sad... some guy was there for about a week doing that and in totl got about 5k... if he had done missions he would have a substantial amount more. So froobs... think before you make an atrox to sponge off other, good, hardworking players or i will personally kick you in the balls. |

WTH is froobs? Is this a new term for new people who try out this game? kind of like Generetion Hecks?
He is right though, don't beg for stuff. |

People who are new to the game are NOOBS. People who play the game for free and FREE loaders. Hence the term FROOB: free noob. Usually identified by their constant use of L33T speak, harrasment of other players, begging and asking questions which can be found VERY easily on the website or in the official MANUAL! To quote the mighty Geoff from the LoM TV show "READ THE MANUAL!". |

Yes, lately there's been a great many of the ones like described above in the game. Fortunately, I've been in mostly in Shadowlands, so I don't face with these guys. It's high time to put an end to this free offer in my opinion. Free 7 days trial is enough to evaluate I guess, otherwise we'll have loads of these guys very soon. ... |

Well as a former froob I can tell you this is a very small number of people. If Funcom didn't want people to try the game and fall in love with it (Like I did) they would not do this. You make it sound as if everyone who took advantage of the offer is a freeloader. LOL Try people who are interested and taking a look. Try potential customer that may become a paying customer and make the game more successful. I have never asked anyone for a single credit and have spent a lot of time helping others even while a froob and there were plenty of other good folks as well. They are not all idiots running around saying L33T and all that junk. They are new people taking advantage of an offer designed to increase the player base and generate more revenue for the game so that it can grow. The game has a pretty steep learning curve and so they do ask a lot of questions. If you don't want to help just don't respond. If you are really annoyed just put them on ignore. The culture of AO really speaks to helping new players and so you may want to give the froob a hand as they may be your paying coleague shortly. Froob is not a bad word, it is a new player that wants to try out the game and become part of the world. If they abuse the rules just petition and they will be delt with the same as a paying player. THere really is no problem if you don't like what they are doing report them. ANd the Froob T-Shirt was kinda cool when I first saw it. Gotta love a game that can laugh at itself.

Problem is there are more MMORPGs than there used to be and Blizzard made MMORPGs for dummies (aka WoW). Due to that people figure they have to play MMORPGs too and with dumbed down ones like that all those wonderful 1337 script kiddies and other morons left B.net and started raiding other MMORPGs, particularly the ones with free content or trials. Fortunately as AO is a more involved game than the likes of D2 or WoW most of the real pains in the ass come in, gripe, complain, say it sucks compare to WoW, even compare it to Runescape then leave. P.S. |

There are beggars but not every froob is a beggar; still better for yourself to earn the money though or else you'll get too dependant on begging.

Well, not all froobs are like that. I'm a froob. I'm probably one of the most mature froobs. I'm immature in this site but when in AO i'm all presidential and shit. Not all Froobs do that kind of stuff. Noobs also do that stuff. This one time when I was playing WoW this guy in front of the auction house was dancing and asking for free money. And the guy was naked. Ya heard |

When a fr00b asks me for credits, I find out what level they are, and give em credits that match their level, and tell them to go roll a mission.

Haven't seen that many beggars where I move, but you can always greet them with "welcome to /ignore" I do like my free bank/mule charecters to store all sorts of crap. Give the froobs a hug, they are missing out on a lot of stuff after all :) If we aren''t supposed to eat animals, why are they made of food? |

I am proud to be a froob. I always look at the real world ads that AO has and try not to piss anyone off. I find that the community in general is very helpful especially on newbie island. The great thing about AO is when you can't dedicate alot of time to a game but still want to play one you can play for free and have fun.

well i'm a froob i guess.. i play the free version..
but i NEVER beg, i frown upon begging and the likes.. the only thing i really want in the game is someone to play with.. all my friends are WoWers and its hard to really meet people in AO, they always busy doing there own thing.. which is fine..but i'ld love to have someone to train with and stuff |

In June 2007, I've created a guild for froobs. Our froobs are very respectable and helpful. We are so numerous around towns and help with buffs for the paid accounts to twink. We also can fight and take Notum bases for paid-account guild too if they need helps. Most paid account guild have about 3-4 fightgers, we can bring 10-30 fighters, we are limited to level 100 for now, we will try 150 later. Most paid-account guilds accept froobs too, only a few guilds don't. So, froobs now day have a good name. There is a new degratory name, "sloob" for noob with SL pack. -Drgunzet- |

There is good and bad froobs, AO has not so many. Try out Archlord and you will see the diff, It whent free a while ago and now it's littered with froobs that is rude, beggers,pk's,extort ppl. U get ganked to many times when figting a mob due to FFA. there is no pvp restriction so an lvl 98 can attack a lvl 15. Along with that crappy movment controls and the login server is down repedetly. |
