1. How to change the screen gamma setting (brightness)?

2. How to show the fps(frame per second) in game? and network status?

3. Is there a "recall" command or item in game?

4. Is it right that if target shows in the left it means "non-combat" target, and showing in the right means combat target, and if there are multiple combat target, the upper one is the target for direct attack? I am a bit confused with the target system.

5. From what level should I use implant? I think it's 20? And should I only save my character after lv20?

Thanks ^.^

1. do it on your monitor (you may be lacking a utility light during the night if its too dark,)

2. not sure ask in game

3. no recalls, you could always /terminate for a death +free trip to town (or wherever you saved)

4. use implants asap and get a QL higher than your own level (remember surgery clinic adds +100 treatment)

and save you character whenever you can, its a goo habit to get into, also it makes it easy to get around (after you level die for a quick trip back with no xp loss)

Targeting:

You have the 2 "targeting" icons in the left and right side of the screen. Let's take the following situation so I can explain it better:

You are leveling and fight a specific mob. You select the mob and then press Q to attack it. You will have it in the left side targeting icon.

However, while fighting it, you can still use tab to scroll through the other mobs around you. They will show in the nano target icon (in the right side of your window).

With your weapon (regular and special hits) you can attack the mob targeted in the left side icon of your screen (name it "current fighting target" - CFT). While the mob that shows as selected in the right icon is the "nano target".

Then you can use offensive nano programs (like nukes or debuffs) on both current fighting and nano target. This allows multiple combat targets.

This feature is especially usefull as follows:

- for pet classes (meta-physicist, crats, engineers): players can keep fighting on the CFT while putting pets on the other targets as well for a quicker kill or to keep aggro away from you or other players

- for bureaucrat, traders, nano-technicians or adventurers (professions with calming nanos): they can fight a target while calming other mobs around them for the safety of the team. MPs (meta-physicists are a special case as they don't have an actual calm nano, but they do have a mezz pet that can calm mobs)

- for tanks (enforcer, soldier, martial artis): while fighting main mob, they can use the nano target to cast taunts nano programs on them so they get aggro as well from those mobs. Enforcers seem to be a bit at a better advantage as they have area taunts (unfortunately they break calms and they need to be judiciously used when having a calmer in team)

- offensive nano programs: every profession that has nukes/debuffs in their arsenal/toolset can keep on fighting one mob while casting nukes/debuffs on other mobs.

Implants:

- they can be used since lvl 1, but since you are not going to leave the newbie island, lvl 5-10 is a safe bet. They are very useful as they provide considerable boosts to your toon's abilities and can allow you to get higher weapons on (or use the current weapon much more efficiently) or use better nano programs

Saving the character: always a very good idea to do so that if you die, you will not loose your entire XP for that lvl. This will come in handy at higher lvls when the amount of XP to get to the next lvl will scale and get higher.

Recall:

- depends on what you need it for as Rubika/SL has a pretty decent transport system

On rubika (RK) you can use the Grid accessible from Grid terminals to go faster from one place to another or use Whompahs (some sort of portals/gateways) for the similar reason. You can combine them to get to and from a specific destination or to travel from city to city almost instantaneously.

When using Grid and Whompahs you need to be aware of the side of the conflict your destination is on. If you are sided with Omni-tek, going to clan cities will be like suicide, and the reverse for Clan sided players. If you are not sided (aka neutral) you can go everywhere without being killed/attacked by the guards (except the Clan city Tir where neutrals are attacked on sight as well as omnis).

In Shadowlands there is no whompah or grid system. However you have gardens (similar to cities only that they are sided and closed to the other side excepting neutrals that can save in either sided garden) which you can get into/exit by using the associated garden's Statues.

Sometimes, it will be faster to travel by trying to get some nasty mob pissed on you (generally just try and attack it or nuke it) and let it kill you. This will send you to your last place you saved. Also, you can use the /terminate command which has 1 min activation and it will kill your toon. NB: getting killed by mobs or nuking yourself to death makes the XP you loose to be added to your XP pool which can be regained thus making you lvl faster untill the pool is gone. Using /terminate will make you loose the XP completely without having it added to the XP pool.

Have you read the Manual from the AO website?

Most of your questions should be addressed there. Was always a good source for me.
