Hi there,

Being faily new again to AO I was wondering about the Lost Eden Expansion. My questions are..

1. What level does Lost Eden content come available to a newbie to the game?

2. Should I be leveling in Shadow Lands with my subscribed account instead of the the original area of RK? I think alot of froobs hit the subway, since they dont have access to SL and arent paying a monthly fee.

3. Anyone got any good links to the areas in which I should be progressing in from 1 to 200?

4. Is guild interraction mandatory at low levels or can I just wait and join a guild later when I reach a certain level?

5. I will take any tips to AO and Lost Eden at this point.

Thanks in Advance!

I should be able to answer a few of these.

1) You can start research for LE the moment you create a character, although it may take awhile.  You select how much of your experience goes into the research.  Different research options gives you different things, such as a few points to nanoskills, or basic attributes.

2) This is something that depends on who you ask.  Most say if you go to SL instead of RK, you will level quick, but will be lacking in money.  Sure you can get pearls and such from SL-monsters to sell for quite a bit, but monsters don't have money on them like the ones on RK have.

3) www.ao-universe.com/main.php has different guides showing you where you should level, and when you will reach the level block for those areas.

4) Join an Org when you feel like it.  Some will help you get things quicker, some will 'twink' your character.  But play it how you want, don't worry about finding one.  At some point, you will find one, or they will find you.

5) Only tips I can really give, have fun and enjoy.  People are nice and as long as you don't beg for things, people do help.

Hope this helps.

Honestly, your best bet for good solid XP would be to level in the Shadowlands areas. Most people tend to level there these days, rather than in RK. For guilds, well that is preferences really. There's no real reason to join one early on, in that you won't be hurt if you don't. However, joining one early on could help build a reputation with your self as player and also to make your gaming more enjoyable when having those folks to talk to, but is it essential to your low level game? no.

A few sites I always found useful:

I can't really give any advice on the Lost Eden expansion as I've really hadn't touched it. I have a 216 enforcer, though I haven't played in about a year, but I do keep up with the game (It's my true love in MMOs <3). Hope you're enjoying the game, one of the best games to date that I've ever played.

Awesome thanks!

One more question and this may sound very newbish.

Can your character shuffle through old RK and SL and vice versa? And if so, do you gotta use the Grid to get their, or is there another way like portals or so fourth?

Early on you get to the Shadowlands thru Jobe via Whom-Pahs.  After that you obtain 'garden' keys which then allow you to access special places in the Shadowlands thru some stones on Rubi-Ka.  Getting back to Rubi-Ka can be as simple as jumping off the edge of a Shadowlands playfield or pass back thru Jobe.

As for leveling, Shadowlands is the best XP but you'll still want to do hundreds of Rubi-Ka missions to obtain tokens for some very uber token boards (neck items), unless you are Neutral or a Shade profession (neither get regular token boards).
