No longer just a contract software developer, Turbine, Inc. is focused on creating, publishing and distributing premier online games and entertainment to consumers of all ages.

Today's announcement marks a key turning point from Turbine's ten-year history as a software developer in the online video games industry. Turbine will apply its proprietary technology, service organization, production capabilities, brands and financial resources to bring world-class products and services into the online games markets in North America and around the world.

"The pervasive acceptance of online subscription-based games and the increased adoption of broadband will enable new and exciting categories of online video games and services," said Jeffrey Anderson, president and CEO, Turbine, Inc. Turbine followed with the acquisition of the Asheron's CallĀ® video games from Microsoft in 2004, becoming the franchise's publisher.

To mark the new name and dramatic shift in business focus, Turbine has launched a new web site at www.turbine.com. A radical departure from the company's previous web site, the new design reflects a commitment to current and prospective members of Turbine's colorful and thrilling online persistent world services.
