To get a game that has been removed from active status to be brought back?
I have seen many requests and petitions across the internet for Turbine to bring back AC2 and I have yet to EVEN SEE A REPLY from them saying that it is NEVER going to happen or even aknowledge to fan base about it. I know it has been said before but with the quite large amount of people still interested and that way advertising goes now days and the drive for free to play games I'm sure they could make it a huge success again. All it would take is a decent re-launch advertisement campaign for about 2 months and I'm sure they would have a decent enough cash flow to substain it and the devs.
Now maybe they don't want to kick a dead horse and that is fine but a lttile bit of feedback would be nice.
So anyway back to the original topic at hand. What does it take to revive a game from the grave? |

I doubt you will see this happen. You might see them make a AC3 but to bring back AC2.. Yeah, I do not see that happening. You are talking about a game released in 2002 that did not do good by any stretch of the imagination. What leads you to believe that if they released AC2 now that it would do better then it did back then. Atleast back in 2002 the game had its graphics going for it. What could have been considered state of the art back in the day. By todays standard they are VERY subpar and lets not even go into the story side of things since the game did launch with a very limited number of NPC characters to interact with. There whole marketing was a game world run by players with very limited NPC cities and interaction. The only problem was that they had nothing as far as allowing players to influnce the game world outside of events that happened every so often when they decided. Lets all be honest, AC2 was really nothing more then a showcase for there game engine. I think they even came out an admitted it after MS closed the game down. Now don't get me wrong. The engine is / was great for the time and has aged / updated fairly well with DDO and LOTRO. But unless Turbines dumps alot of time and money into bringing AC2 up-to todays standards then it really has no chance of happening or even gaining any type of population worth supporting. And if they DO decide to put the time and money in.. Then why not just call it AC3 and start with a fresh name and slate? Would make more sense then bringing in a old name, that by all intensive purposes has a VERY sour taste to it, and starting the new game off on a bad foot? Do not get me wrong, I would love to see a updated AC2 / AC3. I logged many hundreds of hours in AC2, but lets be honest.. The game was nothing more then a grind from the start with solid graphics for the time. In todays market that just does not stand anymore. There is way too much competition and way to many games coming out that offer more then a grind. |

I like the grind in this game. it was a race but no one was ever gonna get there. The few that did out pace anyone were like mini bosses waiting to be killed by groups of players and it was a big deal to kill them. Quingu was lvl 80 something and everone else was 60 s to 70s. So maybe I'm the only one but I like th grind in the game/s that I play. Could care less about starting at 60 or 80. How many delicate flowers have you met in Counterstrike? I'm not your friend. I got a case of beer and a chainsaw waiting for me at home after work. |
