The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with a brief peek at a pair of new features coming with the v4.15 update that is "right around the corner". Rival Wings is a new PvP encounter "on the forgotten fringes of the Dravanian hinterlands". Judging by the small image provided, it shows a lot of action going on in the center of the map and that "a furious struggle for territorial supremacy awaits".
The annual Final Fantasy XIV event, All Saints' Wake, is scheduled to kick off on October 19th and run through November 1st. Players will be able to participate in special events starting with the "It's Probably Pirates" quest. From the official literature: "Godriquelain is suspicious about the Continental Circus's true motives. Speak with him outside Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre to see how you can be of aid."
Final Fantasy XIV Game Director Naoki Yoshida has taken to the game's forums to apologize to players for the recent snafu with the patch 4.1 housing area of Shirogane. He states that he and his team have have "received a great deal of feedback regarding this newest addition to housing".
Final Fantasy XIV has been updated with v4.1: The Legend Returns. The patch contains a number of new quests, a treasure hunt, a new housing area, improvements to PvP, new items, guildleves, and other, smaller updates. In addition, several performance updates have been applied as well as bugs fixed.
In a new interview at GamesIndustry.biz, Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida has revealed some interesting tidbits about the game's player base and its overall health. While no firm current subscription numbers are stated, Yoshida does say that "our active subscribers is the largest it's ever been". Additionally, the launch of Stormblood saw FFXIV cruise over the 10M player mark, only 2M shy of World of Warcraft at its highest ebb, though this number also includes free trial players.
The Final Fantasy XIV site has been updated with some new information about patch 4.1. Several sections received an update including The Minstrel's Ballad: Shinryu's Domain, updated PvP information in Rival Wings where players "control mighty machines in large-scale war games", and the Still Further Hildibrand Adventures.

The Final Fantasy XIV community has done an amazing thing for disaster relief in raising $21,000. According to a post on the FFXIV forum, "several FFXIV content creators teamed up to host a 12-hour community event to raise funds for hurricane relief charity and managed to raise over $21,000. Over 300 players participated creating new characters in Siren and even a GM joined in."
Final Fantasy XIV is celebrating another birthday with the return of The Rising annual event. Players will be able to take part in celebratory events from August 26th through September 14th. Rewards include Wind-Up Lyse, Wind-Up Gosetsu, two orchestration rolls, a Rising Balloon and a Magicked Prism (Flowers).

The international debut of the Japanese TV show based on Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Netflix on September 1st. Called "Daddy of Light", the show is based on a true story of a father and son who bond through FFXIV.
Final Fantasy XIV has a few newsworthy snippets of information today. First off the bat are the latest patch notes that detail some PvE changes for several classes as well as tweaks to several systems including sales of carbonized matter. In addition, Square Enix announced that over 10 million "cumulative" players have taken part in the game since its relaunch. Lastly, the team will be on hand during PAX Prime and what attendees will see during the convention.
According to a post on the Final Fantasy XIV forum, Brazilian and Russian players have had a massive monthly price increase on Steam. One poster has discovered that monthly sub fees have gone from about $9 per month to $13.40 per month. Meanwhile, Russian players have seen a price increase from about $5 per month to $15 per month. According to Square Enix customer support, this was done to "bring prices using these currencies in-line with the global pricing structure".
The Final Fantasy XIV site has a new mini preview of a new location coming with update 4.05 on Tuesday next Tuesday. The blog is packed with images from The Lost Canals of Uznair that "is the same as Aquapolis" but features new, fresh enemies to face off against. According to the blog, the team has plans to further upgrade this location over time.
