In the first Dungeons & Dragons Online producer's letter of the post-Turbine era, Dan "Severlin" Ciccolini has given players a forward look at the next update and a bit of a peek into the future. Update 34 will include a new dungeon, a champion overhaul and the Reaper diffculty.
Reaper difficulty dungeons become more dangerous where "denizens from the Planes are actively trying to kill you as is the Dungeon Master". According to the post, this special level brings "10 Skulls worth of difficulty".
Other 2017 things to look forward to:
- the 11th DDO anniversary in February that comes with gifts, a special anniversary dungeon and Update 35
- Update 35 will include a new Forgotten Realms adventure pack
- Update 36 will take place in the Stonelands and will arrive in late Spring or early Summer
- two more updates will arrive in 2017, one of them being the Ravenloft expansion, both with new content, Sentient weapons "and other surprises"
- a first pass at Cleric, Favored Soul, Druid, Artificer
- bug fixes and feature improvements
