“Mickey Mouse to a three-year-old is a six-foot-tall RAT!”

I don't know about everyone else that frequents this site, but I LOVED loved LOVED "Vampire The Masquerade Redemption."  I love it SO much, that I have to say it's one of my favorite games of all time.  Which is actually saying a lot, since I've been gaming since the days of PONG and Atari.  =D

I realize that Troika no longer exists, so obviously the game could not be produced by them, but it surprises me that one has not been made.  For a single player RPG, that game was/is incredibly immersive, and just off the hook!

Has anyone else played or, as I do, is anyone continuing to play it over and over choosing to be of a different clan every time?

I guess I'm just curious as to the thoughts about formulating something like that into an MMO.....

Dude I loved those games too! An MMORPG version of Vampire The Masquerade would be awesome. That's a great idea. Kinda like my Grand Theft Auto Kingpin idea, that covers the major ghetto chunk of the North East part of US. That'd make a good MMORPG too, added character development.

Well it won't exactly be 'Vampire Only' ... buut.  CCP and White Wolf are making a WoD MMO.  There was an official announcement of the venture awhile back but, there has been no SS's or demos stuff put out as of yet that I am aware of.

Yes, played and loved the game as well.  I'm also suprised no one has really attempted this type of theme too.  VtM offers alot of character types to play that can incorporate into an MMO as well as the lore.  And it's not set in a fantasy or sci-fi world which would be a nice change of pace.

I think there is some kind of Vampire MMO out there but it's not very good.  Oh well maybe someday we'll see a game like Vampire the Masquerade.

I prefer the vampire mythos more in the vein of Anne Rice or John Carpenter but yeah I would like to see a vampire MMO arise, preferably modern day though, there is something about medieval vampires that does not set well with me.

Here I was complainin' about loss of pride and how life had treated me, and now I realized... I never had any pride

As was mentioned CCP is now part of White Wolf, dunno who bought who etc but, if you look at the white wolf website you will see links to CCP.  They are currently working on a World of Darkness MMO... vampires, hunters, werewolves etc etc etc.

Ahhh, yes, I went to have a peek at the "World of Darkness" information.  That sounds like that might be intriguing, provided it has the various lore clans, and whatnot! :)  Wow...4 or 5 years.  /sigh  I guess things take time.  I'm just so tired of the same old same old fantasy settings with elves and orcs.  Blech.  And outerspace....just doesn't do anything for me, really.  I was never a "Trekkie" and Star Wars was a great movie series, but to hang out in that "world"....nah....thanks.

Vampires, on the other hand, are pretty much an untouched realm for gaming with rare exception.  Kind of interesting and new. :)

Has anyone heard of anything other than this ONE game that is not going to be out for 4-5 years??  LOL  (I'm impatient, but I WILL be looking forward to that, anyway.)

There is DarkEden, I don't know much about it other than it is a vampire MMO though.

It is 2D, if that is an issue.

Would love to see VtM as a mmo, it was great a pnp, great as live RP and great as a single player RPG. I believe that Bloodlines still has a strong community creating custom content for it too.

Also as one poster said a Anne Rice or John Carpenter Type wouldnt be bad either But I think Laurell K. Hamilton's Story lines in her annita blake series are much more interesting, I would definately give an MMO based on that try.

Yeah, the John Carpenter type Vampire MMO would be cool too, but I have to agree with the rest of your statement too.

You also brought to my attention a "boo boo" in my original post.  I SAID VtM Redemption....I MEANT....Bloodlines.  Bloodlines is the one that I'm so hooked on.  The GAME PLAY in that game is phenomenal.  I did play Redemption, but it was not near as compelling to me as Bloodlines.  Bloodlines was just so immersive.  I couldn't do anything while I played that game, except keep playing it....LOL!!

When I was thinking of an MMO based on vampires, Bloodlines game design model and game play is more what I had in mind.  3D, for sure.  You just can't suck blood out of someone's neck effectively in 2D.

I LOVE the VtM backstory, ever since i read the manual for redemption, i read it over and over even though it didnt even work on my computer till a few years later

I read the first few clan novels too.

Vampire bloodlines is also probably one of my favourite games, great quests/humour/music/dialogue

I used to be big into eve and when i heard ccp were making a WoD mmo i nearly creamed my pants. Dont think its Vtm though ?

I am a big Bloodlines fan. I have played VTMB and consider it to be one of the top 5 CRPGS of all time. The story, atmosphere, characters and game play system were all top notch IMHO. To bad Troika went belly up right after shipping VTMB because that game deserved to have a sequel to it. I only hope CCP/Whitewolf will do a decent job at developing a WoD MMO. Frankly though nothing can capture the feel of a VTMB because it was a great single player CRPG and single player CRPG games are just miles ahead of MMO's in terms of story, depth, atmosphere, etc but let's hope CCP/Whitewolf change this aspect for the best.

Games I've played:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, LoTRO, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars, Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H.

Games I Am Currently Playing:

EVE Online and DarkFall Online

VTM is based off the WoD universe. Though WoD has split recently as the the new WoD PnP game has changed significantly as to make it an entirely new game and game world then the old WoD universe for which the VTM series was based on.

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG.

I think it would make a great movie, but I just don't see how it translates into an MMO. Thousands of people running around on a server, biting humans? What are the quests? What mobs do you grind on, the police?

I must admit, I'm surprised there hasn't been a vampire/warewolf themed MMO yet. I love the genre and would absolutely love a decent MMO based around it.

If they would add some of the eve elements into the game. And thus making it a no grinder, Just houses conspiering for power.

Getting drunk as usual so this might not make any sence

It's more complicated then you think when it came down to the reduction of clans. Yes they are only 5 clans now but how it was explained to me was that there are also 5 major covenants and many more minor covenants amongst each clan and a lot more bloodlines for folks to choose from then the old game.

Apparently emphasis on loyalty is placed more on your bloodline and covenant now then on your clan as you have more choices within those to areas then before to pick from in the PnP. So where as in VTMB you tended to side with your clan rather then your bloodline or covenant in the New World of Darkness bloodlines and covenants play a much larger role then clans do when determining loyalties and powers.

Whitewolf also made the origins of vampires themselves including clans as a whole lot more mysterious and vague in order for PnP players to fill in the blanks for themselves without the need of hand holding or breaking "lore", etc...

That's basically what WoD revolves around. Everyone trying to grab piece of the blood pie and some not wanting to become part of that blood pie. :P
