What does this say about the current state of MMO gaming...
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/10/09 11:04:38 PM
I just got done of FE actually, I've been spending an immense amount of time playing the game. For me, I don't know why I come here anymore... I should probably stop, it's bad for my health :P |

I'm sorry some people on these forums are intelligent and can form sentences. Forbid he actually uses this knowledge to write something sensible and in-depth. As for the review and not the asinine posts. I really like it, it was well written, in depth and didn't focus on too many positives or negatives. Personally, I agree with about everything you said. I really can't think of anything to add to your review actually. Well, I can. I think SOME of the quests were well written and fun to do. Although, these were really only the low level ones. They degraded the higher I leveled. That or they just got old. |

How old is the youngest WoW player you've ever seen?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 10/10/09 9:11:34 PM
You have to define "Playing" sure the 3 year old chased bunnies and ran around "exploring", but did they understand the titles, the loot systems, Auction systems, quest info, things of the such? How much do her parents really help her? No offense to the little gal, but it seems as if she simply ran around the game world a lot looking at things, possibly killing something here and there. I couldn't imagine a 3 year old properly operating a computer's keyboard and mouse, might-as-well playing a game and actually KNOWING what they're doing, not just doing it. As for the youngest that KNEW what he was doing, he was 9 (he was actually decent at the game and quite mature, for his age. He didn't go around just screwing around). I haven't played in a very long time though, as the game got boring quickly. |

Craz-E Burger: Americans embrace 1,500 calorie doughnut burger
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 10/10/09 6:08:06 PM
Yes, 1000 fair goers on an Eastern Seaboard state are definitely "America". I know of no one who would seriously just buy and eat this like a hamburger from Burger King. It would be little more than a joke, I could definitely imagine walking into somewhere serving this and buying one, but it would be while we were laughing and messing around. Nor would the whole thing be eaten, unless it was a dare. I hate British publications making America out to look like fat slobs. |

Oh, you want the title. My friend I invited to the game got it actually, without trying at all :P I didn't bother with it, I only got the 5 and 15 ones. It's not TOO hard to do, just take it VERY safely, and try to get a 60 for all the group stuff. |

I've usually been someone who really needed something to show for my playing to have fun, but FE isn't like that. I can play 8 hours a day (I am still in school, and after school I really have nothing productive to do. Timesinks are needed) and still have fun, even if I don't level up or don't a new piece of gear. Although, I think this is really because of the AP gain. Every sub-level I gain 2 more AP to skill-up things, that is really a great driving force. It doesn't take much grinding, but it's a little cookie that is always nice to get. Especially because I can open so many new doors with them so often. I'm only level 10, and I've already shaped my character into something I really like (a fairly heavily armored rifleman, who is training a little in pistols). The process is just done in a way where levels really mean nothing more than a general overview of your AP and because of this it really doesn't mean much to see that little number go up, except I know I get some more points I can put into my main attributes and hence my other skills. It's not like I have to grind for that level though, I only have to grind for 2 AP to get that sweet Scoped Rifle. In the end, they did a great job and made an amazing, addicting game. |

I took the liberty of founding a "Fallen Earth Community" group of Xfire for any players of FE that happen to use it. Feel free to join the group if you would like. http://www.xfire.com/communities/fexc/ Thank you,

On the fence, whats the population and the community like?
Fallen Earth « Fallen Earth 10/09/09 3:39:11 PM
Originally posted by FarScape Well, to skill up in this game you just kill things, quest, harvest, craft, etc. to get EXP, every sub level gives you two AP you can spend on skills and attributes and levels are just a general overview of the AP you have, levels themselves don't do much. It takes 5 AP per attribute point raised and 1 AP per skill point. The only things raised by doing them, are crafting and harvesting. Otherwise, you could fight melee only, but only skill up in rifles. |

Fallen Earth « Fallen Earth 10/09/09 3:29:00 PM
The community is in the middle, some are good, some are just there to troll. Although many are truly helpful, there are talkative bad apples. The population, number wise, is great for a new indie MMORPG. Sector 1 is pretty full and there's always someone to play with or talk to. |

Nope, no way to try the game free at the moment. |

General: MMORPG.com Taking Your Questions
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/08/09 7:32:12 PM
Why don't MMORPG developers contact the PLAYERBASE before they start making their game for suggestions? The players buy it, why not make something that they want? That's what I REALLY want to know. Stop thinking we want more WoW clones (hell, if we want to play WoW we have it) and make something new, instead of a WoW clone, make a UO clone. How about an Earth and Beyond clone? I would recommend something original, but I don't see many devs doing that. |

EVE Online: By The Numbers - EVE Statistics
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/08/09 7:02:21 PM
"EVE players have logged 48,387,631,535 minutes in game. That's 433,231 years, or maybe you'd like it in hours: 806,460,525." Four-Hundred-Thirty-Three-Thousand Two-Hundred-Thirty-One years logged in game? Might want to check your math there ;) Unless CCP managed to break the time/space fabric and allow players to play their game for longer than modern civilization has existed. EDIT: I don't want to delete the above text, but I would like to say that I take back everything I have said. I keep thinking of it as ONE PERSON. Not ALL of the subscribers. My apologies. But, my mistake stands. And to the one who said it's not "technically one server". It is. Because on that server, I can find and play with ANY of the players logged on. That's like saying the Dragonblight server on World of Warcraft is "technically not one server" because there's more than one city. Yes, EVE has many systems, all on one server. Just like WoW's multiple cities and continents, on one server. Except EVE has to host an average of 30,000 - 40,000 players at once and not be crowded. WoW has to host somewhere around 2000-3000. Of course EVE will have a lot of space. |

Although they'd be rusted and beaten, you could still live in it, and it'd stand up. Not to mention, why wouldn't we use all of this steel to build new things? We have the forges and tools to mold it to sheets, or hammers and nails to make wooden houses. Not everything HAS to be all beaten and post-human race. |

No doubt they have a crap load of subscribers. But, numbers have little to do with gameplay, not to mention, I'm sure there's a good some odd million spread across other games that dislike it. In the end, I don't care if the whole freaking world is subscribed, I don't like the game and I don't like Blizz pushing their subscriber numbers over gameplay features. |

I'm not going to list the pinnacles of gaming, because that'd be a lot of thought on my part, rather my personal favorites: RPG - Mass Effect Shooter (Offline) - Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood Shooter (Online) - Any of the Battlefield games, or Section 8 Strategy - World in Conflict MMORPG - EVE or Fallen Earth MMOFPS - PlanetSide MMORTS - SAGA Sandbox Game (Think Grand Theft Auto) - Saints Row 2 Game that really had no genre because it's very, very weird - Mount and Blade (it's like a political game, a shooter, a bit of a strategy game, along with an RPG. In the end, it's a fantasy life simulator, with less options as to what your life actually is) Best mod to said weird game - Star Wars Conquest Best Unreal Tournament mod - Angels Fall First: PlanetSide for UT3 Best indie game - Mount and Blade Best fighting game - Street Fighter 4 Best Racing Game - Need for Speed: SHIFT (or GRID) Best old game people still play online - Diablo II Best Puzzle Game - Portal And Lasty.... Best game to make your computer shed tears - Crysis, in a 64 player multiplayer map. |

The omni-present story is that you're a clone who's had his DNA damaged and to restore your immortality, you need to fetch some DNA from an Alpha clone. It's not really that awesome. The quests, they are interesting and the quest text is actually pretty funny, witty, or just well written. As for the faction, I haven't really bothered with them yet, so I'm not sure there. The graphics are fine, I think they're rather good. I'm going to guess people are angry because they're not over-sharpened and lighted like every other game. The team went with another style, and pulled it off. Faces are well defined, textures are a somewhat modern resolution, and the guns look great. I've seen better, but for an MMORPG, they're very nice. |

Okay, after 5 hours in game, acquiring my mount, becoming addicted, and having fun I have decided a couple things of WHY I liked the game. A) The weapon system. When I first played The Witcher I loved the way it handled weapons, I could have a bow and sword on my back, two large axes on my belt, and tuck a knife in my shoe. Then you could see it all, and it changed as you upgraded equipment. That was awesome. Fallen Earth, does the same thing. I have a 2x4 on back next to a crossbow with two pistols on my legs and a lead pipe and a knife. It's just the little detail that is cool. B) The gear system in FE is amazing. There's tons of different spots, which means tons of combinations. C) Lastly, at the same time of the robust gear, is a robust skill system. In the end, the game is probably my favorite MMORPG to date. With the gear system, the fact all gear changes your character visually, then the skill system, interesting quests with rewards that actually make sense and the fact I can have a heavily armored car with machine guns. Highly Recommended to... anyone... |
