Thoughts on STO from a casual perspective.
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 5/28/10 8:31:24 PM
Good post, I feel the same about this game. It is to the point now where I just get fed up with the same missions over and over again that I just log off right in the middle of them or let my 5 year old finish them for me. |
|
|
yeah, that is true about the Cruisers. I tried all day today to do a slide with my science and escort and could not do it. I do love those Cruisers though, they are like the old TimeX commercials,, They can take a licken and they keep on ticken. Another funny thing is today I was leveling up my Captain and I ran into the same bug of floating cargo containers, it was the same bug I reported three other times with three other Captains and once in Beta. I got a report number of 886,564 I hope that is not the amount of bugs but it is clear that Cryptic puts emphasis on C-Store items than fixing something as simple as floating cargo containers. |

What gets me is that it I do a power slide for almost a light year before I make a complete turn in a straight line in my Space Whale. Yesterday i measured it off of a stationary object and it took me .91 of a LY to come 360 deg. and face the target. I understand about momentum but the ship should turn/pivot while still travelling in the origional direction useing its navigation thrusters. |

Well you can be for the game or against the game and the fact still remains the same, the game is poor at best. You can justify it anyway you want to as why the game is the way it is. I personally would like to see all monthly subscribers not renew their subscriptions for 1 month and watch how fast Cryptic changes their point of view on who gets it and who dosen't. |

Ship interiors planned in the near future for Star Trek Online

Well, I for one do not count C-Store items as content. What I call content is missions, individual and group content, not a few half baked things that are supposed to be raids that takes hours for you to find a group to do them and then you have to have Vent or you are out of luck. I do not consider nerfing as content and I do not consider this game as a finished product. |

General: Roper Update Interview
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/17/10 8:56:41 PM
Today I signed in to the game to do my daily B'Trans missions and half way through the first contact I just said to myself, Why am I doing the same thing over and over again for the last 3 months, I am just going through the motions to get badges that I can't use anymore because I already have all purple stuff on my character and ship, I feel like a guy who has a dead end job and just waits for the 5 o'clock whistle to go home and start the day over tomorrow. Well to make a long story short I just stopped half way through the first mission and told my 5 year old son to finish it for me. What does this have to do with the interview? I don't know but after reading it all I could think of was how this game just realy is lacking in everything. |

Originally posted by mezlabor funny that you posted that link because around the 08:55 mark he said the movies and TV shows are absolute canon and we aren't going to change a darn thing. Well, since I can remember watching TOS when it was new and TNG and all the movies I wonder where and when I missed the part where the Feds fired first, wiped out whole crews and committed genocide,,guess i just don't get it. |

Ship interiors planned in the near future for Star Trek Online
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 5/13/10 9:41:59 AM
Originally posted by SaintViktor Why should we be? It is only in the plans for future release, just like everything else. Sure I would like to see ship interiors but I would be more happy with content added and I am not talking about that sorry attempt at a few raids that they did. I would be happier if I could fly through space without getting sucked up into an instance by a wondering signal. I would be happier if they added an integrated voice chat system or be able to control my ship with a joystick. Why should I be happy with something that is promised for the future when it should of been in the release. Oh and by the way, I am still waiting for my flying car that was promissed to us in the 60's, 70's, 80's and yes even today it is still scheduled to arrive sometime in the future. But then again, what can you expect when a company puts more emphasis on Fluff than Stuff. |

So I see someone has put the pressure on here.

Good insight article on why STO is failing
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 5/05/10 7:45:33 PM
Originally posted by MeTed Oh no, it is all Cryptic. What they did was make a handfull of simple missions and just repeated them for every level. I believe that they just had a meeting and everyone agreed to just throw a bunch of stuff together and put it out as complete and let everyone know how hard they worked on it and how great it is going to be. I mean look at the contest they had for their new Escort,, and the winning name was Dervish??? It doesn't even follow any reason for a name like that when you look at all the other ships names. Everything from crafting to the super fast track to Admiral is a sign of lack of care for the people playing the game. I would of been happier if It took me 6 months to a year to make Captain, not 12 days of causual playing to make RA5 and then sitting on my thumbs and spinning around waiting to do my Daily mission to get my purple items for the last 2 1/2 months. |

Sick and tired of the I quit threads...
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 4/25/10 8:23:07 AM
Any reason that the paying customer thinks is reason enough for them to quit. Have you not bought something because you did not like the color of it? If you said yes, then that was a lame reason not to buy something. If you go to a fast food place and constantly have to tell the cook, no cheese on my hamburger and he keeps putting cheese on will you stop going there? If you said yes, then that is a lame reason to quit the place. |

Thanks for the complement and also hate lemon-aide, but fancy a hard lemon-aide on those hot summer days. |

Well in my opinion as one who drank the kool-Aid, fell for the hype, thrown down the bucks for a life time sub even after reading all the negative reviews from many game sites realize that STO is nothing more than a stand-alone PC game that someone puts on their computer at the office to kill time during work breaks. This is as far from an MMO as internet Checkers. Do I feel cheated and lied to? Sure I do, but that is my own fault. Will I quit? No, because my 5 year old son loves the game and I let him play it a couple hours a week and it keeps him from getting in my hair. The bottom line is sure I got taken to the bank, I spent $300+ on it and I have no one to blame but myself. There is an old saying that goes something like this--When life deals you lemons,,Make lemon-aide- and that is what I have done. I love to watch my son play this game and feel that the money I spent on it was well worth it if for no other reason than for his enjoyment. |

Went to IRC chat to discuss lack of phone support
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 4/23/10 9:28:02 PM
That seems to be the same attitude they had when they made the game, just dress it up in a Star Trek uniform and throw in a few ships and you will be all set with a Star Trek MMO. |
|
|
Well I for one will never buy another Cryptic game. The game is now at the level it should of been when it was released |

Originally posted by bstiff You stole my thunder, I was going to post that same comment but would add that I spend more time and get more enjoyment from reading their forums than I get from playing the game. The longer STO goes on the more and more their forums are becoming like the Stargate World forums, now those guys know how to flame. |

Like I said on the STO forums, they could put a phaser that shot out rainbow beams in the C-store and everyone would be saying what great of a job they did adding to the game and continue to stroke their ego. |
