I can't tell you any facts but I think SW:TOR is probably in top three.  For p2p I guess Eve online and Rift are kinda populated too..

As for f2ps I guess World of Tanks is kinda big deal in case you count that as MMO I have never really tried it. MMOs that have turned from F2P to P2P are pretty popular too.. Aion, DCUO and Lotro the first 3 that pops to my head.

No facts there... just my opinion after reading some forums.

Let's take a look at FPS games now... MW 8,6 and MW3  2.2. Pretty much the same game. Not much difference, but still the other one has four times better score.

Big Rigs 4.1 score which is higher than Diablo 3.

No one rates the games as a game nowadays. Nobody rates the damn content and the gameplay experience. The reasons to rate games low are:

DRM, Cash Shop, high price, too different from the earlier games of the series (omg it's not the same series anymore), exactly the same as earlier games of the series (omg its just the same game but with new looks), game tried to appeal to masses went casual and ruined the series. Nobody gives a shit how good is the actual game. Most people just rate it before they have even played it.

Popular mainstream games with some kind of DRM or high sales price always gets rated down because of haters.

Indie games with cheap price tags and no DRM gets high user scores because they have close to 0 haters.

Populated Minecraft server is probably more populated than Vanguard. Sad but true :(

You could try downloading a texture pack for minecraft. Not sure if it helps anything though.

Once you learn to play and get into the game the balance issues aren't that bad, pretty much everything can be countered.

Some champions just noobstomp more than others.. pretty balanced game after a while imo.

If you want to buy any "Dota" I don't suggest you to buy Warcraft 3 but Heroes of Newerth. Though not even Heroes of Newerth is even close as good as League of Legends imo.

Yeah but all that is old stuff, Nightfall added most of it and consumables are even older than that.

But it is far easier now than after Nightfall released. I think they have increased the number of players in many places. I am pretty sure 8 players were rare before.

Cantha (excluding the starting island) has always been for 8players and so has Elona (excluding the starting island).

In Tyria Crystal Desert should be mostly for 6 players but southern Shiverpeaks and Fire Isles for 8players.

So almost all 20+ content has always been for 8 players. (If I remember right.)

Warhammer endless trial. You can play t1 pvp forever.

..you can't pvp in any f2p without spending irl money.

Happened to me when I bought eq2 from steam as it clearly stated that the additional 30 days applies only for new station accounts :/

EDIT: I contacted to support and they gave me 16days because 14(trial) + 16 = 30.
