Another game that will turn into uninteresting crap. 6 months and it's dead? Or can it last for a bit longer? |

A new king of MMORPG soon because Blizzard shot themself in the foot?

"There-is-a-chance-to-loose-5.5million-subs-but-it's-worth-it-reason!". It's not common to see Blizzard doing misstakes, maybe they actually were losing money in the Asian market and this is the way to make profit again... Who knows? |

The only way it shows greed is if their expenses are so low and their profits are so high that they don't "need" to add different revenue streams but choose to anyways. And then again, if they are a publiclly traded company then they have to maximize their profits for their stockholders. I'm sure both of you would be a bit miffed if your retirement funds or 401k's or whatever you have languished and didn't make any profit because the companies in your portfolio did just enough to stay afloat, keep people employed and invest a little in the prodcut and future developement. Over the course of years you would then wonder why you don't have enough to retire and what were the companies doing with your money. I have no problem with mixing them. But if it's the mixing of revenue types that you don't like then have them just raise the monthly fees (doesn't seem to have been raised by much in the last 5 years or so) until they can cover all costs and make the profit that they want/need. That works for me.
Well, if a company decides just to double the monthly fee after the release once they got a customer base, yeah, that's greed or just stupidity if they want to keep any subs. If a new MMO decides to have a high starting fee then it's up to us customers to decide if we want to pay for this of choose some other game. I agree that the subs havent changed really for the last 5-10 years but let's not forget it's cheaper to reach out to millions of customers than when EQ1 started. Hardware and the tools to maintain a MMO have are far more refined these days than 10 years ago. The problem nowadays is that many MMO's try too hard, they hire tons of developers and they make something really BIG and of course expensive for several years without any income whatsoever.

Name one great "F2P" MMO which have the same quality as any average subscription based MMO. The quality of these RMT based games are terrible, you will notice tons and tons of timesinks and virtual roadblocks which all leads you to buy really expensive stuff from some item shop, most of these games also lacks support and content updates because the devs have already started on their next project. Sadly this seems to be where things are heading, SOE have started with their mixed RMT and subscriptions which are even more bad and the level of diffculty have started to drop below easy - I have no idea what they are up too but somehow they think kids have alot of money or something.. dunno.

Defilers, Guardians and Templars tend to solo really slow and have poor options to increase the solo speed (killing speed) dramatically with AA's like most other classes can. Assassins might not be the best choice because of all stealth attacks needed to dish out some damage but you will be able to handle all solo content there is. If you want to be able to after heroic content I suggest necromancer, easier to master compared to enchanters and with tainted heals your pet will be able to take alot of punishment to even be able to kill nameds. |

$tation Ca$h ftl! First they release this overpriced expansion for EQ2 and we realise it's gonna take a long time to get achievment xp ingame. Then out of nowhere the live servers gets patched with STATION CASH where you can buy achievment xp potions for a completly outrageous price! The greed is fucking horrible and it sucks to be playing a game where you have both subscription, eq2players fee, legends of norrath crap and now this fucking bad idea of station cash. The greed is endless. /Cancel account. |

I really read some interesting stuff here but there are so many errors from all the haters I don't really know where to start. 1. As mentioned a gazillion times, SOE aren't involved in the development of PoTBS. 2. SOE havent killed any games, they have rescued 2 games from certain death, Matrix online and Vanguard so those can keep going with it's fanbase although it's kinda small. Even planetside with less than 10k active players are still very much alive aswell, if this had been run by a small independant company it would have been dead a long time ago. 3. See 1 4. See 1
