The "TP Home" feature does exist on TP chips above level III. It's not cheap to do, so getting old or new friends to assist on a ride out from a hot spot is probably easier accomplished.

Paid other players for an evac? I can't help but think you didn't look at other Entropia community forums much. The Calypso Rescue Team is a society that specializes in getting newcomers out of trouble, and they do it for nothing. That's just one Society. There are numerous others and many individual players that would have happily helped you out. If another newcomer runs into this type of dilemna, simply post a HELP! thread over on planetcalypsoforum.com (for Calypso) or one of the other planet forums, or even one of the non-planet specific forums like entropiaplanets.com and you'll probably have your ride out shortly, and the cost will be gaining a new friend or two. Oh, the horror! :P Cheers! AG

Only stackable items are lootable, meaning ammo, mined resources and raw materials. Vehicles, weapons, and armor cannot be looted in any PvP area.
I seriously doubt anyone would carry $60,000 in stackables anywhere. The avatar would be unable to do anything but walk at a very low speed due to encumberance. OP, pony up a source for this rumor or it's a load of hooey.

I find it amusing that none of the questions regarding gameplay issues, etc I asked have been clarified by those making complaints. If you're looking to figure the game out, then let's have some dialog.
AG- not employed by Mindark or any of the planet partners as one person seems to think. |

LOL What gun did you use as an unskilled noob that consumed 200 PED of ammo in 5 minutes? It couldn't have been an opalo or other gun that's tailored for the lack of skill levels that all newcomers have. Sounds like you tried to just grab the biggest gun you could find, which would certainly be less efficient due to low fire rate due to lack of weapons handling skill, missed shots due to lack or aim skill, etc, etc, etc.. Unless you actually grabbed one of the anti-materiel rifles which is the hardest hitting firearm in game and has one of the highest decay rates, I doubt the time factor you cite. Players must carefully match the weapons they use to the skills their avatar has, otherwise you will lose peds. This isn't the instant-uber shoot 'em up that many uninformed people seem to expect. |

jihashi, a few questions: How much time in game do you spend on average for one of these reviews? Which destination in Entropia Universe did you visit? Currently there are three seperate games running under this banner: Planet Calypso, Rocktropia, and Next Island. Each is managed by a seperate planet partner company and run on the Entropia platform. I can't speak much to Rocktropia or Next Island, as the robot-killin' sci-fi environs of Planet Calypso are the kind of fun I love best. I will ask the following on the chance you were reviewing Planet Calypso as opposed to the two other games.
Did you ever leave the newcomer arrival island and visit Port Atlantis? Players cannot travel back to the island once they leave, so if you didn't teleport, your opportunity to socialize with more experienced players was nil. The UI is complex, I'll grant you that. The key mappings are indeed configurable, so you can make it more WOW-like, or whatever, should you choose. Funny thing about standards, there are so many to choose from! LOL That mouse-look thing you mention, go into options and turn off "move to selected target" to stop this behavior.
I ain't flaming here, but the comment about losing loot the instant you die is totally false. Creatures you kill stay in place for a long time after their demise. It is possible to return to the site if you happen to die before you can loot a creature. Only the person doing greater than 50% of the damage to a creature can loot it, so others cannot pick the corpse while you're running back from revive. Even if you die, you can go get that loot. Press "P" before you teleport to get the coordinates of the location you've died. That way you know where to go from the revive to get your loot. :) Should you find yourself on the losing end of a battle with a creature, don't worry too much. All your stuff stays with you, and you wind up at the closest revival terminal. There are exceptions to the "all your stuff" statement, but should you find the edge of a lootable PvP area, you will recieve a warning that you risk losing your stackable items therein.
I'd be interested in hearing what equipment you purchased when you're discussing this being an expensive game. A decent newcomer kit with armor, weapon and ammo can be had for less than 10 bucks US. I believe this is less than the average monthly payment for subscription based games.
As for the community... if you never left the newcomer area, you really didn't get a chance to experience the community. I'd recommend taking a peek over a weekend and checking out Port Atantis during peak hours. I think you'll find a completely different experience from the one you describe. You can also utilize the two most popular forums for entropia and get answers to questions like "how do I reconfig my keyboard", "where are the NPC's I need to visit for the missions?" and meet players that aren't online when you are. It's a global community, and many members are awake when you sleep, and vice versa. http://planetcalypsoforum.com and http://entropiaplanets.com are where many Entropia players hang out when not on-planet. Thanks for taking a look at Entropia, and thanks in advance for answering my questions! Cheers, AG |

Next Island- Entropia Universe planet partner goes live
General Discussion « Entropia Universe 12/08/10 9:21:04 AM
Next Island has gone live. Next Island is a partner planet in the Entropia Universe. You can sign up for an account on their website. Planet Calypso and Rocktropia residents may teleport to Next Island with their existing avatars for a 40 PED fee.
Here's a blurb from their website:
Join the utopian scientists, great artists and successful entrepreneurs who populate our tropical paradise of Next Island. Travel through time to ancient Greece where you can fight mythical beasts, quest to please the gods or discuss philosophy with other residents. Pursue a wide range of professions from hunting to hairdressing, craft weapons and fashions to use and sell, or just socialize with other Islanders at our popular clubs. Next Island is a free2play virtual world. There are no subscription fees, and no credit card is required to play. If you’d like to purchase upgrades and virtual goods, or if you’d like to sell your harvests and in-game creations, the exchange rate is fixed at 10 Ped to a dollar.

New 35 sq km landmass to be auctioned on Planet Calypso
General Discussion « Entropia Universe 12/05/10 7:50:31 AM
Dunno Razer. It'll be fun to traverse the sea between continents though. Hopefully there will be some PvP waterways out there so the hovercraft and those new Patrol Boats can go at it! |

New 35 sq km landmass to be auctioned on Planet Calypso
General Discussion « Entropia Universe 12/03/10 8:05:13 PM
Medusa's Head Islands to arise between Eudoria and Amethera.
The islands will include 8 land areas, 2 new & unique creatures, a spacecraft hangar (spacecraft have not been implemented since vu 9.x was retired), a ziggurat-like main structure, and more. The islands are expected to rise from the sea bed on December 7. Bidding will start in the in-game auction system on December 13th and conclude on January 3. While the bidding war will no doubt be fierce, regular colonists will benefit from both having new lands to explore, 2 new and unique missions on the islands, and for the first time, direct travel between the two settled continents of Planet Calypso without teleporter use.
Details here.

VU 11.5 brings aerial combat to Planet Calypso!
General Discussion « Entropia Universe 12/02/10 10:27:19 AM
Tanks, Helicopters, and Patrol Boats to join existing stable of wheeled, floating and VTOL craft! Planet Calypso is currently updating to VU 11.5. IMO, the most exciting feature this year has been added! The ability to dogfight in PvP Zones! Here's the entire VU 11.5 announcement from http://account.entropiauniverse.com/news/pages/2010/12/01/9025/index.xml New Features
VehiclesEntropia Universe engineers are working hard which has now resulted in three new vehicles: tank, combat boat, helicopter. Tank - MegingjordIn Norse mythology Megingjord is Tor's belt. When worn, the belt is said to double Tor's godly strength. Feeling unprotected in a car? Why not use a heavy tank instead? The thick armor and heavy arms on this vehicle are superior to other vehicles! Combat boat - NaglfarIn Norse mythology Naglfar is a boat made entrirely from nails. Do you want to become the ruler of the sea? Acquire a patrol boat and protect a district or just keep disturbing joyriders away. Helicopter - GungnirIn Norse mythology Gungnir is Oden's magical spear that always hits its mark and always kills. Gather several of your friends in a helicopter and take off. Make sure to have weapons attached, especially if you plan on flying over PvP areas. Vehicle WeaponsVehicle weapon attachments are introduced. They can only be attached to a vehicle before it is spawned. These weapons do not deteriorate when used, but when the vehicle is hit. Vehicles can also be armed using mountable weapons that can only be mounted when seated in the weapon station. Mountable weapons deteriorates when used. Note: Attaching weapons to vehicles need to be done before spawning them.
Vehicle CommissioningFrom today vehicles do not need commissioning; you no longer need to find a commissioning terminal before spawning a new vehicle. They are good to go at once - when you have added fuel, that is. Miscellaneous Vehicle Improvements

Gamer makes a cool half-million by selling virtual property
General Discussion « Entropia Universe 11/17/10 7:29:48 PM
Someguynamed, because Sweden has laws regarding stuff like you're insinuating. You'd better take a close look at Bill Gates and Warren Buffet also. You know how much news is generated in the news about them in their particular fields, too! LOL Seriously, there are only a few really big spenders in Entropia. There are far more noobs and midlevels than those that dump tens of thousands and more on virtual properties in the game. Most of us are just in to play the game, although I'm sure many of the current crop of noobs came sniffing around in the hopes of free money. Besides, cousins in this game get their kneecaps shot! (long story, in-joke involving a scam of quite expensive armor and the excuses given by the perp) PM for details if you want 'em. :) |

...and a quick update!
It has now become apparent why the robots retaliated in force for the H-Day initiative.
Earlier this week, a massive EM pulse was detected in the vicinity of the Hadesheim Crater. Colonist volunteers scouted the area in VTOL craft and discovered that War Titan Typhon has apparenlty not been totally destroyed in the impace as we'd believed. Some sections of wreckage and even new contruction were observed. Along with this bad news, we learned that something that appeared to be Shelly Nakajima, a reporter for the Entropia Broadcast Network (killed and unrevivable by any means in a robot attack at Jason Center 18 months ago) was with the robot forces in the Hadesheim Crater. Apparently, the robots had done something to her corpse. Robot attacks have increased. We're seing new robot types, such as the Steelbird, in massive numbers. The robots haven't stopped cooking up new threats either. This week, the "Harbinger" series began attacking cities and adding their strength to the areas held by robotic forces. The chilling suspicion is that these are not entirely mechanical. Harbingers appear to be cyborgs, but where are the robots getting living tissue for these abominations? |

Planet Arkadia! Yet another new planet joins the Entropia Universe!
General Discussion « Entropia Universe 11/13/10 8:12:31 AM
Actually to clarify one point Razer made...
There are lots of servers, but only one instance of each area of a planet partners planet. An avatar passes seamlessly between server borders as they would travelling from locality to locality in the real world. because it is single instance there are no mirror images, and no missing your friends because they are on the wrong server. |

Entropia Universe: $335,000 for Virtual Property

Newt, and what business doesn't have a business model that generates profit for itself? A person cannot go into McDonalds and come out with a bag full of burgers and more money than they went in with. By the same token, becoming a one man offworld kick squad for free is an unrealistic expectation because all items in EU have a real world value, so there aren't going to be platoons of non-depositing ubers. In addition to being a shrewd hunter, crafter, miner, colorer, etc, a successful colonist on Planet Calypso must also be a shrewd businessman and pay attention to the market for all items they loot, mine, or produce. It's not a game for the "I just want to shoot at stuff" crowd. People just need to recognize that going in and plan accordingly, or like you they will meet dissapointment. |
