Ya I think it's very under-rated. There's a lot to it I feel.

What a bad looking game. I'm not a graphics whore by any stretch. I'm a huge fan of old games...but that looks like amateur hour.

I used to be interested in this game. I used to be open-minded about it, etc... but at this point, unlike most people on here, I definitely do NOT want this game to succeed. I'm 100% hater. It'll be 1,000,000 times more satisfying, and funny if this game fails at launch and crashes into the ocean like so many meteorites.

"Comeback Fanboy of the Year Award" can only be DarthRaiden. He was down and out for a while, but has come back swinging like a champ. His comeback almost inspired me want to start getting back into XC and track shape again.

If any of these Darkfall fanbois read this they are going to be after you like flies on shit. Not only are you a WoW fan, you're not into PvP. The only thing Darkfall has going for it, is the possibility of PvP. It is not Oblivion, it is most definitely not Morrowind. The fanbois on this forum think that you are a lesser person than they are if you are a "themepark loving carebear." Let's all ignore the elephant in the room - that we're talking about video game here, and as such any game one plays is about as meaningful as a wart on a hogs ass. But for some people on this forum, video game are all they have. They want to pretend it's an actual skill when it's not. So anyway, I'm sorry about the post you wrote. Hopefully nobody will read it. My suggestion is to wait and see on Darkfall...but chances are it's gonna be a piece of shit.

This is in now way a flame of the above post. But in all seriousness, what is a social engineering attack. I have already signed up for beta and would like to know any potential risks I'm taking. I am not a huge computer/internet person, I basically just play games and use the computer at work.

Most games at this stage of their development (3 weeks from launch) are far more polished, and have far fewer question marks. But I don't think that is going to stop AV from releasing this. Now that there appears to be a real closed beta happening, I think they're going to throw it into the water and let  it sink or swim. In the next three weeks they'll do whatever they're going to do with activating all the features, and then I think it's over. I have no real data to back up this opinion.

Why? because if and when darkfall releases, its primary core player base is going to be made up with the majority of you lot I don't think any developer would want those type of people playing thier game.

This report is phony as hell.

The reason for the Darkfall hate is threefold, and none of these reasons apply to Masthead.

1. Darkfall has been publically developed for nigh on 8 years

2. Darkfall has decided to follow an extremely unorthadox style of communication with it's potential fans. Basically no communication at all. The mouth-piece of the company is a man named Tasos who is pretty much universally despised because he makes grand, sweeping predictions about the game, and reacts with smuggness and arrogance when those like MMORPG suggest their is anger from the player base.

3. Darkfall may launch on February 25th and they still have not released system specs, or lifted the NDA for an open beta.

On the other hand Mastead has only publically been developing this game for about a year; it has defined it's different types of beta-testing, and has told us what step they're on; and lastly they have system specs out for the game.

I also think that the forum postesr for Eathrise are a lot more calm and mature in general. Most of them don't really care what game you play. On the Darkfall forums, however, there is tremendous animosity, and hatred for those who enjoy different games. Carebears, Trolls, Haters, Fanbois, etc... are terms that are thrown around like so many different catch phrases.

Yes, lets just relax. Saying things like "Best MMO Ever" is going to create a Darkfall complex and that's the one thing no game needs. Reading about Earthrise on this and other forums is a breath of fresh air because everyone is so calm, and sober/mature.

It seems that this company is already doing a lot better job at communicating with it's potential fan-base. They've layed out the definitions of their different beta styles, given some system specs, and havn't made any grandiose, sweeping claims that this game is supposed to be "The Best MMO Ever," like Adventurine has. Personally, I think this game could be the spiritual successor to SWG, but it's way to early to say yet for sure.

Exactly. Look, in the end, you're still just playing a video game, not dodging bullets in 'nam, or 'rastling bears for a living.

Well, like a lot of people I assumed they'd keep the NDA in effect. Now lets see as they let people in, if anyone breaks that thing and gives us an idea of what this game is all about. Personally, I'm skeptical that they've sent anyone anything.

I predict no beta at all tomorrow, or at the very most a rumor of one, but with the NDA still in place.

You can find nary a word about this game anywhere besides these forums. When you google Darkfall, it's mostly hits from this site.
