well i dont have an experience with the title but i would like to make some with this game if i win a pack :)
damn how can someone say that is a goblin ... its clearly Thief but  much older lol

I love how people hink its their right to tell these companies what to do with their products.  Its simple Its their game...  they can do with it as they wish.  If you dislike a policy  or something about a games development cycle.. then it is very simple, don't support it.  Just for geessh  sake,  stop complaining constantly about it.  People crying game "a" is this or that , game " b"  was this..  it doesn't matter,  its their game to either make a hit out of it,  or to nose dive it.  and  you have two choices,  either support it ( with you pocketbook)  or not too!

Me personally, I  like it when a game company has a nda close til release,  cause i hate hearing all about  how super guy x  thinks its a bad game, cause it doesn't have a stuff to his liking, and thus  he makes it his mission to one man crusade against  the game, ruining it for everyone else.  I like to get into a game for me,  not because of what others might think or not think.  Thats the problem in the genre now, everyone wants to be a blind sheep and be hand led around a game, grow a pair try a game out for yourself,  make up your own mind!  If  its not your cup of tea  then  move on...

so what your saying is pay for a game, test it and if you dont like it or its crap move on but you payed for the game and since it has an NDA you cant tell others, show them vids of the crap that game is, "brilliant thinking" there (just in case you really are a "brilliant thinker" i'm ironic)

The people calling ESO shady for pre-orders with NDA, here is a prime example of a MMO who has done this

Final Fantasy XIV ARR

Yes, the NDA was lifted in Beta phase 3 but the pre-orders went 20 days before it (i.e. NDA still in effect but game available for purchase) and yet the game was conceived by the MMO Community like the second coming of old school MMOs. Where was all the criticism then? And this example is just from the top of my head. I am sure there will be others who have done this as well.

and thats why ppl should not fall into these pre-orders with NDA on, if the game is pre-order it should be pretty much done but they want your money so much they make games pre-order in crappy alpha phase without a good testing and then you have to alpha test it for them and they say they made it pre-order because they care for people(or other untrue reason) , paying for testing and that is why these games mostly fail, are a big disappointment, from getting payed to alpha test something people now pay to alpha test

all went New Republic :D

Here's my idea.

You buy a 30 day sub.

You login.

You have 30 "tokens" on your login/character screen.

You click the tokens and one is used.

You now have 24 hours to play with that one token, logging in/out as many times as need throughout that 24 hours.

Can't play tomorrow? No prob, your remaining 29 days are waiting for whenever you want to use them.

At $15 per 30days of tokens, you are spending $.50 for each 24 hour block.

You get all the benefits of the subscription, without feeling you've "lost" your money by only playing a few hours a week.

actually it very easy to just make the sub time be consumed when u actually play the game, this make all your 30 days play days but then they would loose money cause ppl need to sleep, eat, drink, f and other stuff and that time goes down and after 30 days u need to pay again, so far i only saw one game that had sub to have this option a long time ago, unfortunately i forgot the name of the game.

so even your suggestion would make them loose money and i would suggest u dont get your hopes up thinking they would do that

Open Beta Kicks Off in the ground ... i finally managed to fix the laucher problem not loading at all with the exe they provided on the forums only to be in queus of 10k+ jumping to 193k and when it went down to 6k it again jumped to 193k and it was stuck there ... hope they fix the problems after this upcoming patch

google sweetFX ultra settings for Planetside 2 and see how that looks ... its so so much better but u can get banned for using that, FXAA is just crap compared to the sweetFX

ppl played with sweetFX in beta and u could actually disable FXAA but after lauch u cant disable FXAA anymore and if u use sweetFX u get banned because it shows as a hack

it would be so great if they had sweetFX instead of FXAA but unfortunatelly its not the case

for ppl that are downloading slow .. use the second download option since its torrent and its a lot faster ... i just used that after seing the first takes hours to download and got the game in  a few minutes

i'm from Europe and i got in but i got a key from other site however downloading the 2.2g client takes a long time

And yet those things are all restricted in their other "Free to Play" titles. So why would we believe this to happen here? I am not a Sony hater but I have tried Free Realms, EQ 1 & 2 and, Vanguard and there are restrictions of the type spoken of in each of those models. I find it hard to believe there isn't a catch somewhere. I am also not one of those fools who believes I should be able to play a game for free. Developers have to eat too. I'm just saying it's hard to believe there are no restrictions for free account folks.

also they made weapons available permanently with SC only on Bullet Run and u can only rent them for a few days with ingame money ... i for one hate the rent option with ingame money and real money to get that weapon permanent ... it makes the game even boring

since the weapons bought with real currency most times, in most fps that did this, are usable since lvl 1 even if they are a high lvl weapon

i would be fine with the real currency option weapons that need no lvl to use and with the rent for a few days with ingame money if they had the option to be bought with ingame money permanently when u have the lvl and currency required

making the weapons rent only with ingame currency and permanently with SC only lowers the game quality, competitivity and removes the "achievement" to reach a lvl, get the currency needed to get the weapon u like permanently and this makes a game boring, only worth playing for a bit if u have nothing else to play or if u wait a few days for some other game afterwich the game like that is good for uninstalling and never think about it ever

i miss when the game was called Hedone

also Blacklight Retribution model is the best model ... u can buy with zen or ingame money everything except some decals, skins, but those are ok with zen only ... and they have the permanent option for ingame money 2 besides the cheap ingame currency rent for those weapons ... when they add new weapons for a timethey are zen only bought and after a month or so they add rent option with ingame money and after a few months they add permanent option with ingame money for those weapons also, but when that game lauched they already had a lot of weapons that could be bought with zen or ingame money, rented for 1,3,7 days and to rent a weapon for a day u needed to be good in one single game ... if u werent that good u still could do like 5-6 games and get the money for that weapon for a day ... but the best thing was that u would try to play your best to get as much currency and xp as u could in order to lvl up and get the weapons, items, armors, etc  when u reached the needed lvl permanently ... adding a + to the game besides all the mods u can play and things u can accomplish

yea the game is not a new game, as to those that played that English server ... it was actually BR server ... but was extremelly good translated to english and because it was the only server it did not say BR ... but if u went and asked the admins there what server it was they would tell u it is the BR server (the only one at that time) ... i watched this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1qwbiJwDko and honestly it looks like shit .. i know its CB and all  but the Taikodom i played a long long time ago was a lot better

Yes, First person only for Infantry. They took it out for infantry because people would use it in planetside 1 to look around corners so they can ambush people. It was inherently unrealistic and unfair to the assaulter because there was no counter to it.

kind of make sense but if one class will have only FPS perspective, everyone should have just that as well. Aside from realism i prefer third person perspective all the way :)

only vehicles will have tps(third person) view also

sry for the wall of text, i really hope they let me as a EU player play on SOE PS2 server ... i got this mail:

Dear Heroes and Villains,

An exciting time in SOE history has arrived and we are very pleased to be celebrating it with you, some of the most passionate DC Universe Online fans! As many of you know, SOE has partnered with ProSiebenSat.1 Games to provide and market eight of its games to players in Europe, including EverQuest® II, DC Universe™ Online, Free Realms®, Star Wars®: Clone Wars Adventures™, Magic: The Gathering - Tactics, and PoxNora®, as well as the upcoming PlanetSide® 2 and the next game in the EverQuest® franchise.

Specifically, the above mentioned SOE games will be made available through the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service in more than 40 European territories, including Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Other countries may be added at a later date.

Under this new partnership with SOE, ProSiebenSat.1 Games will lead the effort to further enhance the presence of these SOE games in the European market. Expect more players and more focused attention on international players!

The transition process will begin today with DC Universe Online being the first game migrated to the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service. Once the transition takes place, DC Universe Online players in the above mentioned European countries will need to have or create a ProSiebenSat.1 Games account in order to play DC Universe Online. European players who want to transfer their existing SOE account and character data will need to link their SOE account with their ProSiebenSat.1 Games account.

Transitioned players who have pre-paid, non-recurring SOE memberships will automatically have their memberships transferred over to ProSiebenSat.1 Games so they can continue enjoying any remaining play time left on the account. For transitioned players who have a pre-paid, recurring SOE membership, their remaining membership time will also be transferred over to ProSiebenSat.1 Games; however, the membership will not renew at the end of the current billing cycle. Once the billing cycle ends, those players will be able to re-subscribe through the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service in order to continue enjoying the benefits of a similar membership.

What you need to do:

DC Universe Online players in the above mentioned European countries will need to have or create a ProSiebenSat.1 Games account in order to play DC Universe Online. European players who want to transfer their existing SOE account and character data will need to link their SOE account with their ProSiebenSat.1 Games account.

Linking your current SOE account to your new ProSieben Sat.1 Games account:

1.        Create a ProSiebenSat.1 Games account: If you don’t already have a ProSiebenSat.1 Games account you will need to create one. You can click here to create a new ProSieben Sat.1 Games account or login with an existing account if you have one.

2.        Link your SOE account to your ProSiebenSat.1 Games account: After creating a new ProSiebenSat.1 Games account or logging into your existing ProSiebenSat.1 Games account, you will be prompted to link it to your existing SOE Station Account. Enter your SOE account information and login if you want the accounts to be linked. After successfully linking the accounts, your DCUO items, character data and station cash (ProSieben SevenCash) will be available on your ProSiebenSat.1 Games account.

3.        Download the new launcher. After linking your ProSieben Sat.1 Games account to your SOE Station account, you will be prompted to download an updated LaunchPad. Start the executable and select “Repair/Reinstall” when prompted. Don’t worry, you don’t have to download the whole game again! Once you’ve updated the LaunchPad you’ll be ready to play DCUO by logging you’re your ProSiebenSat.1 Games account!

4.        Re-subscribe to any recurring membership:  Please note that none of your personal information will be transferred to ProSiebenSat.1 Games during the account linking process. No credit card or other payment information will be shared. If you want to continue or start enjoying the benefits of a recurring membership, please sign up for a membership using your new ProSiebenSat.1 Games account.

Players who have a SOE Authenticator will not be able to use it with the ProSieben.Sat1 Games account. If you purchased an Authenticator, we will refund you the amount you spent.

European customers who maintain All Access accounts during the transition period will be transferred to ProSiebenSat.1 Games later on in the process. Further information on the transfer of All Access accounts will follow in the near future.

Again, we are very grateful to have such a diverse and passionate community, and want to assure you that SOE will continue creating dynamic games for you and your friends.

Sincerely,
Sony Online Entertainment & ProSiebenSat.1 Games

So this thread needs to be edited by mod or deleted. This is utter and  complete misinformation. Like others in this thread said before, there is no such thing as end game content in ps2. The game is meant to throw you back in combat asap unless you need to modify your stuff.

Charging real cash because people die? Who in their right mind would do that?

lol not people ,he meant characters . god forbid why you want people to die ? :P

this is for Kemeros ... who in their right mind would do this ... funeral homes :)

however if your char dies in Planetside 2 u will not pay any real money to be able to fight again

played alpha and its an amazing game

agreed 5 is doing a great job at listening to players and they did a good job with its updates of Firefall so far in my opinion

If WoT is an indication of what sort of country's are going to join the community then iam going to USA 100% even with 200ms.

Free to play games atttract alot of balkan players who dont speak or dont want to speak english.

The game will be overhelmed like in WoT with those kind of players.

I have nothing against balkan players who speak english, i welcome you as brothers in arms, but for those other people who refuse to communicate in english they need their own server or this game goed down the drain.

Thats why i start on USA servers anyway, i can already see what will happen on 1st day of release.

This is also why I never ever play on EU servers. Even if the EU server is marked english you still get loads who do not speak it.

hopefully the penalty for friendly fire is pretty much the same as original planetside, at least, you do have the option of shooting said people, same side or no.. half the fun if you ask me

the latency issue is a big one though,  if the absolute best you can hope for is 90ms which is pretty high for an FPS, chances are with server overheads etc your probably going to be looking at least at latencies of 120 ms.. even with a decent cable connection and ISP,  anyone who doesnt have that much will probably get anything from 100 - 180 ms.. and if you live in the countryside as i do.. where cable is a dream that will never come true.. then your lucky to get even 200 ms.. which means you can pretty much forget bothering with USA based servers generally.. never mind just for FPS games..

i have no clue who these probien people are or what kind of reputation they have.. problem is, if i want to play PS2.. i may not have a choice anyway..  except the basic avoidance one that is.. which isnt really much of a choice.

probiensat is alaplaya  ... and some of their games like LOCO and S4League had many many hackers at one point on each game so i quit it ... they managed to lower those hackers after a while so it might turn out ok even for the EU .. but i'll sure play on US first and see if pings are ok ... i have fibre optic cable and i get like 50-135 ms on US servers ... only for a game i had like 250 ms but it still played pretty great :D

i play BLR now while i wait to get to play PS2 and even the EU servers i dont think they are in EU area lol since i have 64 ms and on their US server i get 85-120 something like that ... and then it is War Inc Battlezone ... that has EU and US servers ... now the US server has 60+ a bit and the EU has 20-22 ms now if Planetside 2 US server will have like 120ms i'll play and see how it works out and if i dont like i'll prolly try the EU server .. hope the ms on US wont be very high :D
